Coup D’etat, Part 1

Andrew McCabe, disgraced former FBI Deputy Director, admitted on national TV Sunday night that he and others were engaged in planning a coup d’etat in May of 2017.  This was not some conspiracy nut ruminating while imbibing some fruit of the vine. The person saying this was a former FBI Deputy Director who appeared to be sober.  Literally dozens of media outlets have used that word in their headlines.

There are dozens more headlines like this floating around.  Even the Washington Post, that bastion of anti-Trumpism, used the word (“Attempted coup d’etat”) in one of its headlines recently.

Please note that a formerly powerful and unelected government official admitted that the FBI tried to launch a coup against the constitutionally elected President of the United States, less than four months into his term of office.

This is third-world country stuff.  It is extremely hard to swallow for activities involving high-level government officials in America.  That’s not to say that corruption in government does not exist.  We all know that regardless of which party is in power, corruption festers, usually out of sight.

However, it re-enforces just how corrupt the Obama administration (‘I DID NOT HAVE SCANDALS AS PRESIDENT’) was. They turned the DOJ and FBI into political weapons beholden to one political party.  This damages our country in ways that will be felt for years.  The same can be said for the IRS.  How far into the future will it be before the American people can have confidence that the activities of these organizations are on the up and up?  Will they ever be able to?  Newly sworn-in AG William Barr has his work cut out for him.

All of this originated from the fake Russian collusion investigation whose purpose appears to be two fold. First, entrap Trump associates into saying something that can be used to file perjury charges.  The Special Counsel can then ruin them financially even if they are innocent of the charges.  This discourages talented people from helping PDJT.  Second, provide cover and a shield for the malfeasance of those in the DOJ and the FBI who participated in this farce.  In this the Mueller team have been very successful.

It is time for sunlight and accountability to shine on the works of these bad actors.  It is time for the Mueller investigation to end.
