Star Chamber

Have we awakened into a world of hate and fear where the people who hate and fear do not know it themselves?  One only has to look around to see countless examples of hate and fear. They are there everyday in the media. They often try to masquerade as being virtuous thoughts and acts.

The latest example is the hearing going on in Washington, DC, by the House Oversight Committee.  The Democrats hate PDJT because, despite conspiracies within the Obama administration to swing the election to HRC in 2016, the people selected him for President. They have not gotten over this yet and will probably never get over it.

To show how desperate they are, the Dems have brought Michael Cohen, convicted liar to Congress, to testify.  Cohen is pathetic.  His acting skills do not come up to Christine Blasey Ford’s.  Just as with Ms. Ford, he will quickly be forgotten when he is no longer politically useful.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the congressman who the Democrats tried to character assassinate during the previous Congress, brilliantly laid out the current conspiracy for all to see.  As part of his opening remarks, he noted, ”This is the Michael Cohen hearing presented by Lanny Davis.”

Who is Lanny Davis?  Jordan called Davis the Clintons’ best friend, loyalist, and operative.  Jordan said that Davis choreographed the whole thing. Jordan knows this because Davis told the staff that it was his idea.  Davis said he selected the Oversight Committee and that he talked Michael Cohen into testifying.  Lastly Davis persuaded Chairman Elijah Cummings to actually have the hearing.

Jordan went on to note that the committee, which has “lots of lawyers” on it, was actively encouraging the violation of attorney/client privilege.  Lawyers are supposed to respect the attorney-client privilege of confidentially regarding their communications with their clients. But, Cohen has shown he has as much regard for upholding the privilege as he has for telling the truth.

Just how totalitarian is this?  This is a star chamber proceeding like used to be seen in the old Soviet Union. What was it that Joseph Stalin used to say?  “Show me the man and I will find you the crime.”  Clearly that is what is going on here.

Even Sen. Diane Feinstein admitted that, though the hearing was on her TV, she didn’t not watch because Cohen has a credibility problem.  I suppose it was too much to expect that she might go further and also admit that the hearing was all about trying to get some legs under the impeachment idea.

Rep. Jordan continued his remarks by saying:

Jordan went on to say to the Chairman, “We’re supposed to pursue the truth.  You have stacked the deck against the truth.  We’re only allowed to ask certain questions.”  The Chairman had made certain areas off limits to the members of the committee.  These included the Special Counsel, the SDNY and Russia.  Jordan pointed out that the only subjects allowed were those that might be harmful to the President of the United States.

Jordan went on to describe Michael Cohen as seen through the eyes of the SDNY.  Hans von Spakovsky’s summary is germane.

Can we really expect a “full and credible” account from Michael Cohen? Or will his testimony be just another piece in what acting U.S. Attorney Robert Khuzami of the Southern District of New York called Cohen’s “pattern of deception,” designed to make himself look good and to shift blame for his misdeeds onto the president?

Khuzami has described Cohen as someone who “repeatedly used his power and influence for deceptive ends.” Cohen’s illegal conduct was “marked by a pattern of deception that permeated his professional life” and he engaged in “extensive, deliberate, and serious criminal conduct,” according to Khuzami.

Cohen pleaded guilty in federal court to willful tax evasion, false statements to financial institutions, illegal campaign contributions, and making false statements to Congress. Khuzami noted that all of the crimes bore a “common set of characteristics.” Each involved “deception” that was “motivated by personal greed and ambition.”

In his testimony Cohen will swear an oath to tell the truth. But he previously swore – falsely and repeatedly – that the tax returns he submitted to the IRS were “true and accurate.”

Khuzami faulted Cohen for his submissions to prosecutors in which Cohen “repeatedly attempted to minimize the seriousness of his decision not to report millions of dollars of income over a period of years by blaming his accountant” – assertions that prosecutors said “are simply false.”

Do we have any reason to expect Cohen to change his stripes in his testimony before Congress?

Of course not.

One thing that appeared to be put to bed was Cohen’s knowledge of the Russia collusion narrative.  He did not want to wade into that part of the swamp he finds himself in.

In the end it now appears that the Dems will shift their focus from the fake Russia collusion narrative to investigating PDJT’s business dealings. Robert Mueller and his cohort of Democratic lawyers will be dismissed after two years and tens of millions of dollars wasted investigating a narrative that was setup by money paid from HRC’s campaign to produce false information on PDJT’s personal and business life.  And where did much of this fake info come from?  Russia.  Putin must be laughing himself to sleep every night.
