The Democratic Party is in full-blown meltdown mode. During the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday, Senator Maxie Hirono (D-HI) went off the rails and accused AG Barr of lying on more than one occasion to Congress. A case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) as bad as this has never been seen in public before.
During the committee hearing, Sen. Hirono called on Attorney General William Barr to resign, saying he is no different from others in the Trump administration who have sacrificed “their once decent reputations for the grifter and liar who sits in the Oval Office.” Kamala Harris of California trying to revive her failing campaign for the Democratic nomination joined in the demand for Barr to resign. Although Sen. Hirono asked several questions of Barr, she never gave him a chance to answer.
Responding to questions about obstruction, Barr created more discomfort for the Democrats by stating,
“If the president is being falsely accused, which the evidence now suggests, the accusations against him were false and he knew they were false, and he felt that this investigation was unfair, propelled by his political opponents, and was hampering his ability to govern, that is not a corrupt motive for replacing an independent counsel.”
On Thursday Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused Attorney General William Barr of committing a crime by lying to Congress. “He lied to Congress. He lied to Congress,” Pelosi said at a news conference. “And if anybody else did that, it would be considered a crime. Nobody is above the law. Not the president of the United States, and not the attorney general.”
The specific reference was to a question Rep. Crist (D-FL) asked regarding concerns that the Mueller staff may have had about the summary letter produced by Barr in March. Barr did speak with Robert Mueller who indicated that he had no problem with the accuracy of the summary, but rather with how the media was misrepresenting the nuances of the staff’s legal thinking with regards to obstruction.
Barr said,
“I offered Bob Mueller the opportunity to review that letter before it went out, and he declined. On Thursday morning I received—it probably was received at the department Wednesday night or evening—but on Thursday morning I received the letter from Bob, the letter that has just been put in the record.”
I called Bob and said, ‘What’s the issue here?’ I asked him if he was suggesting that the March 24 letter was inaccurate, and he said no, but that the press reporting had been inaccurate and that the press was reading too much into it. And I asked him specifically what his concern was. He said his concern focused on his explanation of why he did not reach a conclusion on obstruction. He wanted more put out on that issue.
[Mueller] argued for putting out summaries of each volume, the executive summaries that had been written by his office. … I told Bob that I was not interested in putting out summaries. I wasn’t going to put out the report piecemeal. I wanted to get the whole report out.
The Democrats have jumped on this to run with the story that AG Barr was deliberately misleading the public about what was in the Mueller report. As Bob Mueller himself pointed out, his concern was “that the press reporting was inaccurate.”
TDS was on display at the NYTimes on Wednesday with an op-ed by James Comey, former FBI director. Comey portrayed PDJT as a literal fiend who can make grown Republican men forget their loyalties to their country and even family.
How does PDJT accomplish this?
The president is part hypnotist.
Comey goes on to refer to Barr and Rosenstein as accomplished individuals who “lack inner strength.” Therefore, they succumb to the siren call of PDJT. Comey says that when this happens PDJT “has eaten your soul.” Did he really write that? Yes, really!
Certainly this op-ed seems to be a bit unhinged. It is way out there even for the NYTimes. Why all the drama? Why are the Democrats lying about everything? Why are their media allies supporting this obvious disinformation campaign? Why are they doing this in what is so obviously a scripted narrative?
The Democrats are desperate. They know that if the AG looks closely at the basis of the spying on the Trump campaign, Barr will not find any valid reason for such spying. When that happens, the public will know the Obama administration orchestrated an attempt to use the powers of the federal government to rig the 2016 presidential election. As has been stated elsewhere, there are indications that the Obama administration may have been engaged in illegal spying for years.
The blowback from the public would be historic. The history books will then paint the Obama administration as one of the most corrupt in the history of the country. Nancy Pelosi knows that the result would be that the Democrats would be a very weak minority party for decades if the party were to survive at all. The potential effects on the MSM for their complicit behavior is incalculable.
For people like John Brennan, James Comey, James Clapper, etc. their potential legal liability would be significant. They could be facing decades in prison.
The Democrats will do anything and everything to prevent this from happening. Their only God is power. The Democratic 9th Commandment will probably come into play here. “Thou shalt bear false witness against thine enemies.” What story will they make up to try to smear Barr and prevent this investigation from moving forward? Only time will tell.
As PDJT said, there must be accountability for what was done here or we will lose our country.
