With all of the impeachment hoax nonsense going on, many people undoubtedly missed the most recent debate among Democratic Presidential contenders. Not that there was a lot to miss. And the ratings continue to decline.
However, there are always a few noteworthy items in forum like this. One that stood out was Cory Booker’s answer to a question on Hong Kong. The question was an absolute softball but Booker completely whiffed in his answer. His answer makes one pause and wonder if Booker somehow owes the Chinese Communists for something.
The transcript from NBC of the exchange.
Booker goes on to wander all over the map and blather about human rights, etc. As expected, Booker gets in a dig or two at the President. However, at no point does he ever even approach answering the question.
Booker cannot say if he’d stand with Hong Kong. How hard is that? There is no discernable political cost to such an answer. People there are engaged in non-violent protests for freedom and liberty. Some have already died. How can Booker not be in support of them? All Democratic Presidential contenders except Bernie Sanders, who is a communist, at least give lip service to Hong Kong support.
Booker, in his closing statement, touted the U.S. Civil Rights movement as an inspiration to himself. Booker talks about the bridge in Alabama where civil rights legend John Lewis was part of a civil rights protest. One has to wonder why he could not stand with and praise the protestors in Hong Kong who are engaged in the same fight for their freedom and liberties.
This was an absolute whiff particularly in view of past statements on China that Booker has made. I smell something suspicious. Perhaps all those ace investigative reporters over on the Left could find out what’s going on. Nah. Not gonna happen.
