During the faux impeachment hearings led by Adam Schiff (D-CA), we kept hearing the phrase “no one is the above the law.” Schiff said it over and over ad nauseum. A fawning press memorialized it. Because Schiff is a Democrat (who by definition is above the law), I am sure that he never thought his conduct during these efforts would be called into question.
Schiff thought wrong. Brendan Carr, Federal Communication Commissioner, is formally investigating Rep. Schiff for violating privacy laws — more like obliterating them — by setting up his own surveillance state to target the president’s allies.
To provide some context, it should be remembered that, during the House Intelligence Committee’s work in the basement of the Capitol Building, it was revealed that Schiff had secretly subpeonaed the phone records of a number of the President allies. These included Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) – the ranking member on the Intelligence Committee, White House attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow, Giuliani’s Ukrainian contact Lev Parnas, attorney Victoria Toensing (who has worked with Parnas), and reporter John Solomon.
This action by Schiff was banana republic type of stuff. Schiff was desperate to find something, anything that he could use to construct a narrative that various allies of the President were colluding to smear a candidate for President. That would be Joe Biden, of course. Without a doubt, the purpose for revealing that the records were obtained was to put Schiff’s political opponents and targets on the spot.
All of this just shows clearly to the American public that Schiff’s actions as chair of the Intelligence Committee were no grand jury process. One doesn’t rush grand jury information out to the public to create biased expectations or encourage pre-judgment.
Robyn Dolgin at American Thinker noted this about the FCC actions.
Dolgin also reported,
In other words this was all political BS on the part of Adam Schiff. Schiff had numerous examples in the Obama administration to model his work on. James Comey, Andrew McCabe, John Brennan among others come to mind. As AG Barr recently stated, there was “no basis” for the beginnings of the investigations into the Trump campaign or the investigations that proceeded from that. Although US Attorney John Durham may be getting close to indicting people in that “sprawling” conspiracy, no one has yet been held accountable. I am sure that Schiff felt he would never have to answer for his actions. Why? Because he is a Democrat, of course.
It is unclear at this point just where this might lead. However, it would appear that Adam Schiff’s belief that he is above the law might not be as ironclad as he thinks. One can only hope this is true.
