It continues to amaze me on how the media is handling coverage of COVID-19. Governor Cuomo of New York is being turned into St. Andrew Cuomo. His handling of the pandemic has to be close to, if not is, the most inept handling of this pandemic by any government official anywhere. His forcing COVID-19 patients into long term care facilities was downright idiotic. And he persuaded his counterparts in NJ, PA and Michigan to follow his lead. This resulted into thousands of deaths that did not have to happen. NY is literally the worst spot for COVID-19 in the world. But according to “learned” people, Cuomo’s leadership was “competent, fact based, empathetic and forceful.” In what universe would this be true?
According to the media, the virus is raging out of control in Florida. It is supposedly one of the worst “hotspots” in the country. Governor DeSantis has lost complete control of the virus. Armageddon is just around the corner. What’s the real truth?
What is true is that Florida continues to be a hotbed of fraud and misinformation on COVID-19. Besides mixing virus results with positive antibody results, dozens of labs were listed as reporting 90%-100% positivity results for many days. I will just say it. This is impossible in a state where the positive results are in the 6%-15% range. Someone committed fraud in posting such results. When contacted, the labs indicate their results conformed to what is seen elsewhere. That is, positive results range from 6% to 15%.
An acquaintance that I know who lives in Florida shared this:
I live in Florida, which media outlets have described as a hotspot and a disaster in terms of the virus.
New York wasn’t a disaster, they say. New York was a case of wise leadership.
So forget about having a rational discussion with people like this.
Here’s the real situation:
The recent spike in “cases” in Florida — hundreds of thousands of them — is already past its peak, and it wasn’t even close to another New York, which the Twitterverse predicted.
There have been 341,670 “cases” among Florida residents under age 65. Of those, 11,496 have required hospitalization. And finally, 982 deaths. So even in a state we’ve been urged to panic about, for the under-65 population the effects wouldn’t even be noticeable if we weren’t tracking them obsessively. Nobody would know anything was even happening.
Here’s another item: the other day news outlets everywhere reported 77 deaths in Florida. Not reported was that only 10 of those deaths occurred on that day. The rest were added retroactively, going all the way back to June 14.
You think that might make it a teensy bit harder for us to follow the actual progress of the virus?
Where is Dr. Fauci on the misrepresentation of the numbers? Dr. Fauci was quick to warn about the Florida numbers a few weeks ago. Where is he now that all of this nonsense about these numbers is coming out? Crickets is what we are hearing. Why is that?
All of this is about the election. Exploiting fake numbers allows the Democrats to try to keep the economy from recovering in order that Joe Biden can win the Presidency from his basement. The Democrats cannot afford to have Biden out in front of the public. There will be no debates where the public can see both candidates on stage answering questions. Twice last week his staffers abruptly ended an interview from his basement when Biden started to drift away.
