What Is China Planning?

Most people know by now that COVID was created in a Chinese lab in Wuhan, China.  Whether the release was accidental or deliberate we will probably never know for sure since China is won’t cooperate with international interest in this and is not allowing any investigation of this.  According to Gordon Chang, what is important is to understand what China learned from unleashing a pandemic on the world, intentional or accidental.

Gordon Guthrie Chang (born 1951) is a columnist, author, and lawyer.  He is widely known for his book “The Coming Collapse of China.”  Chang lived and worked in mainland China and Hong Kong for almost two decades, most recently in Shanghai.  He was counsel to the international American law firm Paul Weiss and worked earlier in Hong Kong as Partner in the U.S. international law firm Baker & McKenzie.

Chang has warned that Chinese students attending U.S. colleges and universities have become the long arm of Chinese totalitarianism.  He stated that Chinese students, professors, and scientists have become “nontraditional collectors” of intelligence for China.  This has recently been exposed by the Trump administration as being true.

Chang recently penned a piece for the Gladstone Institute regarding the COVID situation and what he believes will be the effects in China going forward.

What are the benefits to China when such pathogens attack other nation’s economies?  China uses a framework called the Comprehensive National Power (CNP) to assess their opponents on the world stage.  COVID showed China that it could gain influence if its CNP rating increased or if the rating of other nations was diminished.

Cleo Paskal, of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, noted:

“If Chinese leaders realize they have an epidemic on their hands that will lower China’s CNP, it is logical to turn that epidemic into a pandemic by restricting the spread domestically while not stopping the spread internationally.  That way, China’s CNP might be lowered, but so will everyone else’s, and China’s relative ranking won’t be affected, in fact, it might even improve.”

Without a doubt, this is what happened with COVID.  As Chang notes:

“…for at least five weeks, Chinese officials first covered up and then lied about the human-to-human transmissibility of SARS-CoV-2, telling the world COVID-19 was not contagious when they knew it in fact was. While they were locking down Wuhan and other cities, these officials were pressuring other countries to accept arrivals from their country without restriction. They had to know they were, considering everything, spreading the disease, making the 4.5 million deaths outside China look intentional.”

Chang goes on to report:

China’s military is working on the next generation of pathogens. Its National Defense University, in the 2017 edition of the authoritative Science of Military Strategy, mentioned a new kind of biological warfare of “specific ethnic genetic attacks.”

China’s military researchers and analysts for a half decade have been writing about pathogens of this sort, and American officials are in fact concerned that Chinese scientists have been experimenting with, in the words of Bill Gertz of the Washington Times, “germ weapons capable of attacking ethnic groups.” Beijing’s determined campaign to collect genetic profiles of foreigners while preventing the transfer to recipients outside China of the profiles of Chinese is another indication that the Chinese military, in violation of its obligations under the Biological Weapons Convention, is building ethnic-specific bioweapons.

What should the world do about this?  Deterrence is the only answer.  China must be held accountable for what they have done and for what they refuse to do.  The costs to China must be severe if deterrence is to materialize.

To expect the Biden crime family to participate in such actions is laughable.  However, without America leading the charge, it is unlikely that any other country will be willing to confront the Chinese.  And, if Xi Jinping sees that there is no cost to unleashing a civilization killer on the world, he will do so.  Who will step up?

And, lest we forget, Dr. “Lysenko” Fauci was instrumental in providing funding for such research.
