When the Left is successful in advancing their political ideology (one could argue just how successful they are in this country), there comes a time when the opposition must be muzzled. Compliant sheep are what is needed. Dissent undermines totalitarian control. This is why religion is so worrisome for communist states. The people would be listening to those who are not state actors.
The First Amendment with its free exercise of religion and freedom of speech is antithetical to the kind of control needed by the Left. The Left knows that robust debate of policy issues could lead to outcomes that reduce their control over the people. Therefore, the natural evolution of any government intent on increasing its own power and subjugating its citizens is to use the justification of security as the foundation for increasing that power.
Maintaining a culture of fear is what all despots use to terrorize citizens and retain power. Establishing a culture of fear might include economic exploitation, physical repression or as we have seen recently fear of an invisible microbe.
COVID was used to lockdown the people. Big Media ran chyrons across the screen all the time creating hysterical fear over a microbe that was no worse than the common cold if treated early.
And censorship is key to maintaining that fear. Those in power would not permit news about effective treatments to become public knowledge without smearing such treatments. How did the American public become so receptive to censorship? Where is the ACLU when they are most needed?
The Patriot Act put much of the censorship mechanisms in place. Undoubtedly the Patriot Act in one form or another was sitting on the shelf waiting for the right moment to be unveiled. 9-11 provided that moment. With the people in search of some assurances that such an attack would not happen again, they became more pliable to giving up liberties enshrined in our Constitution.
The surveillance state is now omnipresent. All Internet traffic is recorded without a warrant and stored on government servers. As we have seen with the January 6th political persecutions, all financial transactions fall under this surveillance as well.
For those who may have missed it, the Dept. of Homeland Security (I have never liked that name) issued an alert on February 7th that free speech is the biggest domestic threat for terrorism. Specifically, those targeted in this alert are those who might “sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest, which could potentially inspire acts of violence.”
DHS Alert (Feb 7, 2022) – The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information (MDM) introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors.
These threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest, which could potentially inspire acts of violence. Mass casualty attacks and other acts of targeted violence conducted by lone offenders and small groups acting in furtherance of ideological beliefs and/or personal grievances pose an ongoing threat to the nation.
While the conditions underlying the heightened threat landscape have not significantly changed over the last year, the convergence of the following factors has increased the volatility, unpredictability, and complexity of the threat environment:
(1) the proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions.
(2) continued calls for violence directed at U.S. critical infrastructure; soft targets and mass gatherings; faith-based institutions, such as churches, synagogues, and mosques; institutions of higher education; racial and religious minorities; government facilities and personnel, including law enforcement and the military; the media; and perceived ideological opponents; and
(3) calls by foreign terrorist organizations for attacks on the United States based on recent events. (read more)
Please be reminded that our government is now in the control of the Far Left. Do not believe for one moment that Nancy Pelosi is some kind of moderate Democrat who has the country’s best interests at heart. Biden is an empty vessel controlled from behind the curtain by those who would destroy the foundations of the greatest experiment in governance in human history.
Totalitarianism brooks no dissent. It was demanded of the social media platforms to control , remove and target any voice who might undermine trust in the US government. After the 2020 election this led to the removal of the President of the Unites States from Twitter. This was censorship on steroids.
Why was this done? They knew what they had done in stealing the election and they needed to control what would make it out into the public consciousness.
Recently the government of Canada followed the same playbook in squelching the peaceful protests. They labeled the protesters as “threats to national security.” Nothing could have been further from the truth. All those protesters were true patriots in the cause of liberty. However, they were a threat to the political power of the ruling elites. So an emergency law was trotted out to squash political opposition. How long before that happens in America?
As it turns out, it is already here. People who may have walked through the Capitol Building on January 6th have been labelled as domestic terrorists. Many have been kept in solitary confinement as political prisoners. All of this is done in order to silence political opposition.
On Thursday the US Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy, joined this effort. For those who may have missed it, last July Murthy labeled free speech a severe national “health risk” as he called for a “whole-of-society” effort to combat the “urgent threat to public health” posed by “health misinformation.” Somehow, I do not think he was talking about Anthony Fauci who appears to be responsible for more health misinformation than any man in history.
Last week, in a formal request sent by the his office, Murthy called on US Big Tech platforms to gather data from social networks, search engines, crowdsourced platforms, e-commerce platforms, and instant messaging systems about the prevalence and scale of COVID-19 “misinformation” and turn it over to the Biden administration no later than May 2nd.
According to Dr. Murthy, “Technology companies now have the opportunity to be open and transparent with the American people about the misinformation on their platforms. This is about protecting the nation’s health.”
No, Dr. Murthy, it is not about the nation’s health. If you cared about the nation’s health, you would have publicized information about effective COVID treatments. You did nothing of the sort. This is about having private companies do intelligence gathering and turning it over to those in power. Such information can then be used during the upcoming political campaigns to keep corrupt politicians in power. It is also about suppressing any voices that differ from the approved government narrative.
You are as evil as the infamous Dr. Fauci.
