Insanity In The US

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to strike down the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling which was an egregiously wrong-headed decision.  Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg had indicated such and expected it to be overturned.  If that happens, it will clear the way for the banning or restricting of abortions in 26 states.  While it is not yet official (the ruling is expected within a couple of weeks), a leaked copy of a draft Supreme Court opinion indicated the direction the court is heading.

Canadian director David Cronenburg, who was in Cannes presenting his latest film, called the potential overturn “completely insane.”  Cronenburg noted:

“In Canada … we think everybody in the U.S. is completely insane…We think the U.S. has gone completely bananas and cannot believe that elected officials are saying the things that they’re saying there.”

Cronenburg must be talking about those Canadians who exist within the elite progressive wokeness that he inhabits.  That would include people like Justin “Rainbow Socks” Trudeau who believes that Fidel Castro and Xi Jinping are great leaders.  It certainly does not include most Canadians, a majority of whom believe that bans on abortion at different stages of pregnancy are necessary.

Abortion is the ending of a human life.  Allowing abortion devalues all human life.  Given the genre of films that Cronenburg is known for, it is not surprising that he has become inured to and approves of killing the most defenseless among us.  That is true insanity.

Does insanity exist in America?  Absolutely.  Perhaps there is no more telling example than what happened in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday.  An 18-year-old resident of Uvalde shot his grandmother and then killed 18 2nd through 4th graders and three teachers at a local school.  Does Cronenburg, who believes in killing defenseless unborn children, believe that this is okay?

This horrific tragedy falls under the category of an active shooter incident in the FBI’s statistics.  The FBI supports the Don’t Name Them campaign.  While there are many issues that I have with how the FBI operates today, I fully support this campaign.  Once the perpetrators of these heinous crimes are stopped, the focus should be on the victims, survivors, and heroes who stopped them, as well as the communities that come together to help in the healing process.

Too many times these active shooter events appear to be triggered by one that occurred recently.  Does an unbalanced individual believe he (yes, he…almost all mass shooters are male) will get his 15 minutes of fame if he does such a horrific thing?  Is this the case here where a mass shooting in Buffalo is followed by the one in Uvalde?

The FBI reports that active shooter events are on the rise.

Source…FBI stats

2021 represents a 52.5% increase over 2020 and a 96.8% increase over 2017.  When historians look back at this trend, perhaps it will be referred to as the George Floyd effect.  The trend upward correlates closely with the rioting that took place in America after George Floyd’s death.  Violence in the form of rioting, looting, arson and murder went largely unpunished during the summer and fall of 2020.  This may truly be Floyd’s legacy.

If the lack of accountability for illicit actions is part of the cause for this alarming upward trend, the effect could also be called the Joe Biden effect.  No one has yet been held accountable for stealing the Presidential election in 2020.  Does such public lack of accountability lead unbalanced individuals to believe that they are entitled to do what they do?

Every time there’s a headline shooting, the Left demands that we take away guns from all the people who didn’t do it.  Big Media blames guns and not the POS who commit these unimaginably horrific acts.  Clear answers to avoiding such events are ignored and emotions are exploited for ideological goals by our totalitarian ruling elite.

Leftist politicians were quick to try to capitalize politically on this tragedy.  Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) went to the floor of a mostly empty Senate to exhort his colleagues to do something.  He repeatedly asked why are we here.  The President went on national TV to tell those who oppose his policies that “we will not forget.”  Apparently, this will become a theme for the upcoming election campaigns.  The Democrats have nothing else to run on.

Biden asked, “Why do we keep letting this happen?”  Apparently, he believes, as did Obama, that adults should not be allowed to own guns.  Apparently, he mistakenly believes that there is some grand loophole which allowed this tragedy to happen.  There isn’t one.

Taking away guns from law-abiding citizens is not the answer.  Senator Murphy (D-CT) talked about common-sense measures.  Are there common-sense measures that could have reduced and/or eliminated this tragedy?  Yes, there are.  However, the Democrats, including Joe Biden, have repeatedly stood in the way of such measures.  Why?  Because they involve good people owning and using guns.  That is not part of their grand strategy to transform America.  Former President Obama regrets not being able to confiscate guns from law-abiding Americans.

What is the solution?  Larry Correia is an expert on this subject.  Correia wrote an extensive piece on this subject back in 2012 that had over a million views inside of 30 days.  I will lift a few parts of his presentation for use here.  There is a link to his entire piece at the end of this post.  I urge you to read it.

Remember this was written in 2012.  That’s the Sandy Hook tragedy year.

Correia writes:

So now that there is a new tragedy the president wants to have a “national conversation on guns”. Here’s the thing. Until this national conversation is willing to entertain allowing teachers to carry concealed weapons, then it isn’t a conversation at all, it is a lecture.

Now when I say teachers carrying concealed weapons on Facebook I immediately get a bunch of emotional freak out responses. You can’t mandate teachers be armed! Guns in every classroom! Emotional response! Blood in the streets!

No. Hear me out. The single best way to respond to a mass shooter is with an immediate, violent response. The vast majority of the time, as soon as a mass shooter meets serious resistance, it bursts their fantasy world bubble. Then they kill themselves or surrender. This has happened over and over again.

Although I am not in law enforcement, I work with many police officers.  Any honest officer will tell you, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.  Having an armed good guy on site can save many, many lives.

The Gaffer notes:

“After the Ma’alot massacre in 1974, Israel instituted a policy in which volunteer school personnel, parents, and grandparents received special training from the civil guard, and were seeded throughout the schools armed with discreetly concealed 9mm semiautomatic pistols.  Since that time, there has been no successful mass murder at an Israeli school, and every attempt at such has been quickly shortstopped by the good guys’ gunfire, with minimal casualties among the innocent.”

This is a common sense measure that works.  The stats bear this out.  Correia writes:

The average number of people shot in a mass shooting event when the shooter is stopped by law enforcement: 14. The average number of people shot in a mass shooting event when the shooter is stopped by civilians: 2.5. The reason is simple. The armed civilians are there when it started.

Why do the Democrats stand in the way of having armed civilians in the schools?  It doesn’t fit their narrative of confiscating the guns of all good citizens.  If they are successful in doing this, they will turn Americans from citizens into subjects.  Then the only people who will have guns will be the criminals.

Part 2 of the solution is to end Gun-Free Zones.  Correia makes the case:

Gun Free Zones are hunting preserves for innocent people. Period.

Think about it. You are a violent, homicidal madman, looking to make a statement and hoping to go from disaffected loser to most famous person in the world. The best way to accomplish your goals is to kill a whole bunch of people. So where’s the best place to go shoot all these people? Obviously, it is someplace where nobody can shoot back.

And here is the nail in the coffin for Gun Free Zones. Over the last fifty years, with only one single exception (Gabby Giffords), every single mass shooting event with more than four casualties has taken place in a place where guns were supposedly not allowed.

Part 3 is to stop glamorizing these scum of the earth.  As I mentioned previously, the FBI has a Don’t Name Them policy that I support.  The media need to adopt this policy.  Take away their chance to be named on the front page of every newspaper in the country.  They should not be glamorized.  They are murdering scum who picked the defenseless to be their path to fame.

Concealed Carry (CCW) works.  Look at the crime stats for any major city before and after enactment of concealed carry. They all say the same thing.  Crime goes down significantly when CCW is enacted.  This needs to be an option for all schools in the country.

Let’s remember:

1: Evil will happen regardless of what the law reads or how you prepare for it.

2: Being prepared for evil is the best way to survive it.

3: Evil prefers easy targets of opportunity.

4: Guns in the hands of trained good people are the best bet to stop those with evil in their hearts.

5: Refusal to acknowledge any of the above turns you into a target of opportunity.

The above article will come in handy to send to politicians who might waver about the 2nd Amendment in the near future due to all the caterwauling that is sure to occur.  Remember these politicians are walking around in areas with well-armed security forces.  Do they really care about stopping mass shooters?  Or is their intent to give themselves more power and control?
