Representative Ilhan Omar appears headed to ouster from the Foreign Affairs Committee over her anti-Semitic and anti-American remarks. After GOP leaders were able to secure enough support for the resolution that also condemns Omar for past antisemitic remarks late Tuesday, the House Rules Committee quickly approved a rule setting up a final vote. The rule passed Wednesday along party lines.
Subsequently the Democrats formally approved which lawmakers will serve on the Foreign Affairs Committee. This includes Omar. Republicans are expected to oust Omar via a floor vote Thursday.
McCarthy has unilateral authority as speaker to remove any lawmaker from a select committee, such as the Intelligence Committee. But House Foreign Affairs is a standing committee, and removing a member from it requires a vote of the full House.
This is payback for the Democrats removing Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar from committees during the last Congress.

Recently members of Antifa have been arrested in Atlanta, Georgia for committing violent acts against police and property. The fact that they are being charged as domestic terrorists has caused some folks at NBC News to be deeply concerned about such ‘dangerous overreach.’
Where were these people when such charges were being levied without foundation against people who paraded through the Capitol Building after being invited in by Capitol Police?
Where were these people when the DOJ sought to go after parents who disagree with leftist indoctrination in their kids’ school curriculum? Where were these people when peaceful pro-life protesters were subjected to FBI SWAT raids because they believed in the sanctity of human life?
The people in Atlanta actually engaged in violence shooting a police officer and setting fires in downtown Atlanta.
The unspoken concern here by NBC News is that DNC brownshirts are being taken off the streets, charged with actual crimes which may result in prison sentences. That might put a crimp on recruiting.
