The last federal budget that went through the appropriations process, passed both chambers and signed by a president, was the fiscal year 2008 budget signed in September 2007 by George W Bush. Every single budget from that moment to today has been a series of continuing resolutions, omnibus spending packages (mini and regular) and baseline budgeted CR extensions. This is the insanity that has resulted in the debt mess we see today.
Matt Gaetz is a Republican that can make cogent and logical arguments. Gaetz can explain his position thoroughly so that even the idiot partisan hacks in the media can understand it.
A Continuing Resolution is not a budget! It’s a tool to keep money pouring into pet projects and interests without any control over the amount of spending. Endless CR’s is a scam on we the people who pay for it. As Gaetz pointed out, the CR’s have been a vehicle to allow politicians to escape accountability for how the government is funded.
Every single budget from September 2007 to today has been a series of continuing resolutions, omnibus spending packages (mini and regular) and baseline budgeted CR extensions. So, when Gaetz says it needs to stop, he’s holding the righteous high ground, and it doesn’t matter which congressional or media voice tries to say he’s wrong.
Gaetz’s argument is about the agreements McCarthy made in January in order to garner enough votes to become speaker. Since then McCarthy has made stupid, back room, secret deals with the Biden White House. He’s blind-sided the Republicans who thought he was negotiating on the money honestly and capitulated and gave away every advantage the Republicans had!
McCarthy has bought into the money laundering operation that is the Ukraine situation. MaCarthy claims to be representing all Americans but the majority of Americans want the Ukrainian money spigot turned off. He can’t turn it off because too many Uniparty pols would lose money.
Billy Graham once said, “When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened.” Gaetz is a brave man.
The knives are out for Matt Gaetz. A faction within the Republican Party is reportedly considering the expulsion of Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) based on anticipated findings from an upcoming House ethics report.
A recent report from CNN cited an unnamed House Republican stating that the caucus “wants Gaetz gone,” indicating a willingness to use an ongoing Ethics Committee investigation into Gaetz as grounds for his expulsion.
Rep. Paulina Luna (R-FL) weighed in, stating, “TO be clear: It is UNETHICAL to threaten to expel a member for following and using house rules that the ENTIRE conference agreed too. This game works both ways just FYI to any MEMBER who thinks they can blackmail a legislator into not legislating.”
This is beginning to sound like a rerun of the Trump persecutions. One does not like the personal philosophy of a member of government, so you try to silence that person so that he/she can no longer represent the people.
Stand strong Matt Gaetz.
