The idea that PDJT should be ineligible to run for President due to the “insurrection” that the government instigated on January 6th has been ludicrous from the beginning. However, this has not stopped some people with serious cases of TDS from trying to do just that.
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to take a challenge to former President Donald Trump’s eligibility on New Hampshire’s ballots during the 2024 election. The challenge was made on the basis that the aggrieved party was impaired from raising donations for his own campaign. Yes, this is the serious reason given in this case to the courts
Multiple states (at this point it approaches half the states in the country) have seen such challenges. This shows just how terrified the scumrats in Washington are that PDJT may win the presidency again. By any means necessary is their motto.
However, even Democratic secretaries of state seem to have little appetite for such a challenge. “We’re not the eligibility police. We are responsible for ensuring that basic facts are met to get someone on the ballot,” Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, a Democrat who has frequently been critical of the former president, told Axios in September.
Of course, the Democrats are wary of any deep dive into the eligibility for President. It has long been a “conspiracy” theory that Barack Obama was not born in Hawaii as his photoshopped birth certificate stated. I am certain that the Democrats do not want that door to open again.
This is clearly in the realm of election interference. Retired Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz argued over the summer in an opinion article that President Trump cannot be disqualified under the 14th Amendment’s Section 3.
“A fair reading of the text and history of the 14th Amendment makes it relatively clear, however, that the disability provision was intended to apply to those who served the Confederacy during the Civil War,” he wrote. “It wasn’t intended as a general provision empowering one party to disqualify the leading candidate of the other party in any future elections.”
People who are running with these kinds of theories that stretch the law beyond recognition are very dangerous. The public is coming to realize that the law is being bent to say whatever the CommunistsDemocrats want it to say, Attorney General Merrick Garland protestations to the contrary. The fact that Garland went to an interview to make such a statement shows just how worried the Democrats are about such perceptions.
This decision is a victory for the rule of law.
