“Comrade citizens. In the spirit of protecting you from hateful misinformation, the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is stepping up. No longer will comrades be subject to the depredations of individuals who might undermine the great work that your government is doing. All “meaningful content” appearing on Internet platforms will be monitored to ensure that streaming services are making valid contributions to Canadian and indigenous lives. Comrade citizens lives will be better for the heroic efforts of the CRTC.”
In other words, all speech belongs to the government. In Canada, they have decided that all internet hosting platforms that give voice to podcasters must register with the government. In addition, any podcast who wishes to provide information must also register.
It is claimed that this is a one-time requirement and can be accomplished with minimal effort.
The Trudeau government is terrified of an open Internet. The Freedom Convoy in the early part of the year showed just how vulnerable a totalitarian government is to the free exchange of ideas and facts. The ability to censor such content is a must for such a government. This registration process generates a permit that can then be used as leverage against any entity to fails to conform to regime fiats.
This is how it will work. The CRTC is targeting the services, not the users. So, the Communists will simply say that an ENTIRE SERVICE is “out of compliance” because of Podcast X or Podcast Y… then it will be up to the service provider to either censor the “offending content”, or lose their “license”. In other words the government will become the arbiter of truth.
The next question here should be what service is being targeted? One that comes to mind is Rumble. Rumble allows all kinds of content on their service. Is this an attempt to reign in and stop content on Rumble that the Communists object to? Will Rumble be made an example of to warn other providers to toe the line? When will they start freezing the bank accounts of content providers and streaming platforms? When will VPN’s (Virtual Private Networks) be outlawed?
How will Canadians react to this intrusion on their freedoms? Will Canadians recognize that making the government the arbiter of truth will seal their fate to absolute tyranny?
Thousands of Canadians have fake vaccine passes. The underground economy is growing in Canada. The Freedom Convoy exposed the corrupt nature of the current government and that such a government cannot be trusted. Are there enough of them who are willing to risk everything for freedom?
The last question is when will this happen here?
