It seems like every other day some egregious violation of justice emerges from somewhere in America. Back in 2020 we had a summer of riots and chaos. BLM and Antifa were untouchables who could engage in whatever mayhem they wanted to without fear that they would be incarcerated even for serious criminal violations of the law. It became so bad that some communities took matters into their own hands to prevent the wanton destruction of property.
This attack on the civil foundations of the country has not stopped. Democrats appear ever-more enamored with “lawfare” — a term that hardly existed before Donald Trump was elected president in 2016 — as they try to keep Trump from returning to the White House.
The NY State fraud case against Trump is absurd. He took out loans and then fully repaid them. For doing this Trump now faces up to $370 million in fines and the loss of his businesses.
The Associated Press, a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party activities, questioned the potential ruling. There were no victims and no losses. Yet Trump is threatened with dissolution of his businesses. The AP noted:
Some legal experts worry if the New York judge goes ahead with such a penalty in a final ruling expected within the next couple of weeks, it could make it easier for courts to wipe out companies in the future.
The AP ignored the obvious weaponization of the legal system against individuals who do not share the political ideology of the Democrats or RINO Republicans. This is a clear attempt to cow businesses, large and small, into toeing whatever line our political masters put out there.
However, if you toe the line, then ignoring the law is not a problem. Recently two Biden administration lackeys, Andy Slavitt and Rob Flaherty, received lawful Congressional subpoenas. The administration has told them to ignore the subpoenas. According to the administration, the institutional interests of the White House take precedent and the DOJ will not pursue prosecutions.
Of course, all of this comes as Trump appointees are being sent to jail for claiming executive privilege.
This all looks very ugly. How does this make the courts look to the average American? Have courts in blue states become mere extensions of a state’s executive branch? Are such courts handing down decisions based on political ideology rather than justice? Have the courts in such places become examples of the philosophy “Show me the man, and I will show you the crime?”
Just where will all of this end?
It is time to stop pretending that the court system is dispensing justice. Call out the liars and thieves who benefit from such activities. Confront those who would enslave us through the court system.
