Ukraine

The news cycle is now occupied with the horrific events that took place on Friday near Moscow.  Upwards of 140 people were murdered and many more were seriously injured.  These people were attacked inside a concert hall by multiple masked gunmen.  Arrests have been made.  At this point, although ISIS has claimed credit, it is too early to speculate on who may have been behind the attack.  Time should allow for facts rather than propaganda claims to emerge.

I will not speculate on who other than to note this.  The US National Security Council says the Islamic State bears ‘sole responsibility’ for the attack on the Moscow concert hall and Ukraine had ‘no involvement.’

So, within minutes of the attack, the NSC knows without a shadow of a doubt who did it.  It is a year and a half after the Nordstream pipeline was blown up and the NSC knows nothing.  And the media knows less.  Right!? It is also interesting to note that the American embassy in Russia had been warning Americans to stay away from crowded venues in Moscow.  Why?

Recently Ukraine had been ramping up drone attacks on Russian oil refineries in the western part of Russia.  This was happening despite pleas from our government not to engage in such activities.  Of course, such attacks do not happen without the help of NATO allies.  Just what that specific help is is not clear.  However, much of the weaponry being used comes from NATO and requires significant training to be effective.

Russia had responded with a massive escalation of strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure as well as military reserve depots.  Mark Wauck notes:

A significant aspect of these attacks has been the heavy use of hypersonic missiles, which Ukraine is now openly admitting that it can’t defend against. The working assumption has to be that these attacks are preparatory to upcoming Russian moves on the ground. This is especially the case with the attacks on Ukrainian rear support targets of all sorts, including transport and power infrastructure, but also including NATO personnel and command centers.

Russia hit numerous Ukrainian hydro-electric power plants, including the big one in Dnipro—one of the largest in Europe—Zaporozhye, and a plant in Kharkov, as well as dozens of other military production sites in Kiev and west Ukraine.

So, the West is losing the war they started in Ukraine.  Ukrainian armed forces are being attrited at an alarming rate.  It would not be surprising if the Ukrainian armed forces collapsed by June or July.

People in the West are waking up to the fact that this was never about “saving democracy.”  The propaganda coming out of Washington is now saying it will be considered a victory if Putin is stopped from crossing the Polish border.  Whatever happened to the cry of these same people that Russia would be vanquished in a few short months after the sanctions had weakened them?

We can expect to see numerous articles in Big Media trying to save face for the administration.  It is too late.  The departure of Nuland from the State Department is a telltale item that everyone in Washington knows what the situation in Ukraine is.  The Biden/Obama team has once again f***ked up.  Let’s hope that this does not escalate into a nuclear war.
