The Left is using the LGBTQ spectrum to try to divide the country. According to the Left, the failure to bow down and celebrate these ideas is tantamount to spreading evil across the land. As many celebrities have found out, just trying to engage in a rational discussion will lead to attempts to cancel the individual. The Left does this because the Marxist approach to class warfare does not work in this country.
The NCAA took disciplinary action taken against the Clemson football program after the team refused to post the NCAA’s official Pride Month message on their social media channels. The NCAA is trying to coerce the expression and celebration of ideas that not everyone agrees with. The NCAA uses the smokescreen of inclusivity to force acceptance. After all, who can be against being inclusive!
The Left has made Pride Month a significant cultural event in this country. Why? The Left has hijacked the month of June to force upon the public the acceptance of all the LGBTQ nonsense. If some recognition of these people is needed, why isn’t a day enough? After all, we have one day for mothers, one day for fathers and one day to celebrate our independence. Why do we need a Pride Month?
Within the realm of sports, many leagues and teams actively promote LGBTQ+ inclusivity and visibility. At one time this was almost universal. However, some teams are choosing not to engage in coercing their fan base to celebrate LGBTQ. The Texas Rangers are one such team and in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs are another.
The NCAA has encouraged its member schools to publicly participate in Pride Month campaigns, utilizing social media platforms and campus events to demonstrate support. Clemson Football chose not to participate and was disciplined for that. Apparently the NCAA believes that individual differences of opinion are not tolerated. Public solidarity and support must be the norm.
In response to the NCAA’s disciplinary measures, Clemson Football coach Dabo Swinney posted a brief but impactful five-word message directed at the league:
“Respect beliefs, uphold individual freedom.”
This rather succinct message broadcasts that the NCAA is no better than some communist society where all expression is commanded to be what those in power want it to be. Swinney’s five-word message encapsulates the need for a nuanced approach that respects both inclusion and personal conscience.
Hats off to Dabo Swinney for recognizing that we live in America and not in Communist China.
