Is it really going to happen? Will peace actually come to the Gaza Strip? The entire world is watching events unfold. Will the Middle East gordian knot that was considered impossible to untie, be cut by President Donald Trump and his negotiation team?
Secretary of State Marco Rubio recaps recent events leading up to this historic moment.
Trump’s Truth Social post;
“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked with us to make this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen. BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, called it “a great day for Israel” and thanked the Israel Defense Forces and PDJT.
The agreement represents a significant diplomatic accomplishment by the Trump administration, and -if it holds- this will mean the end to two years of bloodshed and a spiraling humanitarian catastrophe.

Trump was 37 years old when this picture was taken.
This is the essence of Donald Trump. Long before Trump got involved in politics, he has always expressed wanting to end the never-ending conflicts in the Middle East. Now, 40 years later as President of the USA, this remarkable objective could potentially be within grasp. Of course, as with any deal in the Middle East, caution is the watchword. I wonder if the Hamas leadership, who actually live abroad, understand the importance of keeping their end of the bargain?
Trump’s strategy in these kinds of situations is to place responsibility for the outcome on regional players. Hamas leadership have been living the high life abroad. Was it perhaps suggested to them that they might no longer be welcome where they were?
How did the bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites play into all of this? The bombing changed the geopolitical dynamic in the Middle East. As did Israel’s removing many of the Iran leaders. Hamas no longer had a reliable source for their efforts.
The most remarkable thing in all this is the breathtaking energy of this administration. In a run-of-the-mill administration, a cease-fire to end this war would have been one of its main accomplishments over four years. For this one, it is just another day. Consider that this administration is also navigating a government shutdown, national guard troops in cities, attacks on ICE agents, law fare by judges, insurrections by governors and mayors in deep blue areas and a million other things. Astonishing just how much is getting done.
