Abigail Spanberger hit the national stage as the Democratic rebuttal to Trump’s SOTU address. Not sure why since the Democrats had their own alternate SOTU address. Virginia Governor Spanberger was solemn with furrowed-brow. It was clear that the country must be in a deep abyss. The governor preached affordability like she’s the guardian angel of empty wallets. Did Spanberger say anything about how we arrived at this point in time? Hell no!
The Democrats are desperately looking for someone who might be attractive to some of the public who is not mired in fraud and other quality of life problems. The fact that Spanberger just took office probably pushed her quickly to the top of that list
Spanberger asked three questions. The first appears to be a part of the Democratic playbook heading into November, affordability. Spanberger asked is the President making life cheaper? The Virginia Governor then moved on to safety. Apparently the precipitous drop in the violent crime rate was unknown to her. Finally she asked if PDJT was working for you.
At this point Spanberger paused to heighten the drama. Of course, her answer was No. The recruited crowd nodded like the sheep that they are.
Let’s be reminded that as governor, she inherited a state that was flush with surplus cash, rebates flying, revenues smashing projections from the previous Republican governor.
And what was her response? Finding new ways to fleece the public.
Welcome to 2026 Virginia: “Affordability” now means fresh taxes on Amazon orders, Uber Eats, gym fees, leaf blowers, concerts, therapy, guns, ammo—your morning coffee next if they get creative.
Nothing says “for the little guy” like jacking DoorDash costs to fund Northern Virginia’s Metro fantasies and “equity” slush funds. Surpluses? Proof they haven’t taxed enough. Stewardship is dead; extracting as much money as possible is the only virtuous thing to do.
On the Second Amendment side, Spanberger—ex-fed, shotgun creds, hunter family—now blesses assault weapons bans (whatever that may mean in Virginia), mag limits, ghost gun crackdowns, red-flag expansions. These are bills the previous Republican Governor Youngkin vetoed as naked overreach.
“Common sense,” Spanberger says. What Virginians are hearing: slow strangulation of the Second Amendment. Safe-storage mandates, locked home guns—because law-abiding folks need a nanny state babysitter. The Dems know that most of this is unconstitutional but they pass these laws anyway. It allows them to coerce the public into doing what they want.
In the education arena, Governor Youngkin had reinforced parental rights, supported school choice, improved the focus on reading and math. These efforts will be slowly gutted. Executive orders push “inclusive” everything. The return of DEI will be hidden behind slogans.
If one wants to see an improvement in the public schools, there must be accountability. The country needs to move away from and refuse to accept mediocrity. Excellence needs to be sought after and praised. This is not the Communist Party line. It is not Spanberger’s line.
Spanberger is a woman who campaigned on lightening the burdens of everyday Virginians. Her first two months in office have been the opposite, increasing the burden on those who elected her. Spanberger is a typical Democratic politician. Lie to the voters to get elected. Appear to be a moderate. Once elected, drop the mask and become the everyday radical Communist.
