A carjacker in Garland, Texas is dead because he foolishly decided to carjack the wrong vehicle.

The chaos unfolded Sunday afternoon when a driver slammed into two cars along Highway 66, about 18 miles outside downtown Dallas, around 3:30 p.m., according to the Garland Police Department.

The driver then fled to a nearby gas station, where he was accused by police of trying to “take several vehicles by force.”

Failing at this, the individual then approached a white Impala that was in the parking lot of a shopping center across the street.  Surveillance video captured the incident.

The footage starts with the man marching toward the Texas dad’s white Impala while glaring at the witness who recorded him. The father’s entire family, who are in the car, are unaware of what is about to happen.

The carjacker bumps into the father, who is carrying a firearm. He muscles his way past the dad after a struggle and gets in the car with the father’s baby, two adult females, and multiple children inside.

But just as the thug is about to turn the car on and take off, the father opens fire and shoots the crook at least ten times.

This is a classic case of self-defense.  The father tried to stop the man without using the gun which was in his hand. When all attempts failed, he defended his family from potentially serious harm by shooting the thug who was trying to take the car.  He did this from an angle where he had a clear shot with no others potentially in the line of fire.

Garland police agree.  Garland police Lt. Pedro Barineau told NBC DFW that no charges are expected to be filed against the father, describing the shooting incident as a textbook case of self-defense.

In other news, no specific allegations have been released.  However, CBS is reporting that the FBI raid on Virginia State Senator L. Louise Lucas appears to be in relation to a bribery scheme connected to a marijuana dispensary business where Lucas was a partner.

CBS News:

Investigators are looking into an alleged bribery scheme in connection with the marijuana dispensary business, according to a source familiar with the matter.

A cannabis dispensary co-owned by Lucas was also being searched by federal law enforcement officials, the spokesperson confirmed.

There was no public statement on what the investigation is specifically focused on or what the court-authorized law enforcement activity is related to. A source familiar with the matter said the investigation started during the Biden administration.

Lucas played the victim card.

Lucas is trying to conflate this search with the redistricting effort that she led.  Wrong!  This investigation was underway long before anyone in Virginia was even thinking about redistricting.

Since this started during the Biden administration, one has to wonder if it was deep sixed because Lucas was a Democrat.

Democrats believe that the rules do not apply to them.  Was this belief re-enforced in this instance?  Let’s be reminded that a judge signed off on multiple search warrants.  This should mean that some probable cause exists.

It will be interesting to watch where this effort goes.  Perhaps another lifetime politician will need to retire.
