The freedom from religion crowd are wailing and gnashing their teeth in opposition to the rededication of our country as a Christian one. Somehow, they have twisted freedom of religion into freedom from religion.
Our Constitution does not block the expression of religion. What it blocks is the favoring of one expression of religion over another. The Founding Fathers were well aware of the problems in Europe with the government favoring one form of religious expression over another. So, the plan they came up with was to allow an individual to choose what religious expression was best for that individual or to choose no religion at all.
Democrats have tried over the years to push a litmus test on cabinet members such that a belief in Christianity should disqualify that individual from public office. This is wrong and evil. Morality is critical to the smooth functioning of society.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivers a message of faith and witness during the Freedom 250 dedication. One is free to join in that expression or to ignore it. That is what freedom of religion is all about. The fact that Rubio is a high-profile public figure does not negate his right to express his faith and to practice it in the public square. Rubio is not forced to hide his faith under a bushel.
Secretary of State Rubio, I truly believe, is fulfilling God’s divine purpose for him for this moment. I see and hear this man of deep faith at peace with himself.
America has been rededicated to its founding values. This administration through Marco Rubio has delivered the right faith-filled tone for this moment.
