Lies, Lies and Other Falsehoods

Can the Democrats stoop any lower?  From Maine to Texas to California the Democrats keep dredging up the worst of humanity as candidates for national office.

First, there was Graham Platner in Maine, who won a primary for the US Senate seat.  Later Platner was credibly accused of rape by a former girl friend.  Platner was replaced by Troy Jackson, a DSA afficionado, who wants to rewrite our Constitution, supports open borders, is in favor of killing babies, and wants to allow the slicing and dicing of gender-confused children.  Of course, Jackson is not running on any of this but has tried to adopt a moderate position so he can fool the voters in Maine.

Then there is the Democratic candidate in North Carolina, Shelly Headon, who posted a photo of herself smiling in front of crematorium ovens at the Dachau concentration camp memorial in Germany.  Headon wrote, “this is where Trump supporters belong.”  According to Headon she is running to restore “human decency.”

Dachau was liberated by American soldiers in April 1945. Six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. The ovens Headen posed in front of were instruments of industrial mass murder, built and operated for the purpose of erasing human beings from the earth.

Headon also wrote on Facebook:

“I think our only hope is an attack on US soil… preferably Alabama, Louisiana… where the stupid people are.”

Human decency indeed.  I would suggest that Headon has no idea of what human decency is.  Suggesting that tens of millions of Americans “belong” in a Nazi crematorium, and separately expressing hope for a domestic attack, reflects a pattern of statements that most candidates in either party should disavow immediately.  However, no North Carolina Democratic Party official has publicly responded to the posts.

Then there is James Talarico, Democratic candidate for the US Senate in Texas.  Talarico is worse, a lot worse than the two above.  Talarico gives new meaning to the phrase “by any means necessary.”

Talarico is trying to win the Senate race by abusing a child.  That’s right by abusing a child.  Talarico is running campaign TV ads that use a Waco child’s sexual abuse as fuel to enrage people against his Republican challenger Ken Paxton.  And the ads are lies from beginning to end.  But, apparently they are moving polling numbers.

What are the facts?

A Waco lawyer by the name of Adam Hoffman was arrested in 2022 and charged with continual sexual abuse of a boy.  The penalty is 25 years to life.  The local DA recused himself because of a prior relationship with the accused.

It landed at the Office of the Attorney General because the local prosecutor could not touch it. Nobody in Austin went looking for this file. It arrived because someone had to take it.

Two prosecutors from the AG’s office took it on.  Between them they have over five decades of criminal law practice and have handled thousands of child sexual -assault cases.  They have published a letter to a state rep named Jeff Leach laying out exactly what happened with this case.

Hoffman was charged with the gravest offense possible.  One does not reach for a life-sentence statute if one is trying to give someone a break.  The case was tried in June 2025.  The child testified.  The jury could not agree to convict Hoffman. It hung 7 to 5, seven for conviction, five unwilling to get there.  Five jurors who heard the same evidence declined to say the state had met its burden. That is not a scandal cooked in Austin. That is a hung jury in Waco.

Was the state ready to retry the case.  Absolutely.  Unfortunately, the child in question was not willing to voluntarily testify again.  Apparently facing his abuser once was the limits of his courage.

The child could have been compelled but the prosecutors judged that they would not do that to him again.  I agree with their decision.  Retraumatize the boy seems like an awful way to get a conviction.

Without the testimony, the prosecutors still managed to secure an admission of guilt and some jail time.  On April 16, 2026, Hoffman pleaded guilty to two Class A misdemeanors, indecent assault and displaying harmful material to a minor. The jail term was 60 days.  Hoffman also surrendered his law license, took a lifetime protective order barring contact with the victim, and left the state.  The misdemeanor offenses did not trigger Texas sex-offender registration because the written admission did not specify the victim’s age. This is what the prosecutors could obtain with the cards they had.  Ugly?  Yes.  Some sweetheart deal?  Hardly.

Talarico knows all of this.  How did Talarico handle all of this?  Talarico called the deal an Epstein-like sweetheart deal.  He has continued to sing this song following Hitler’s theory that if you tell a lie long enough, people will start believing it.

What else did Talarico do?  His ads say that Ken Paxton offered the guy a one-day-in-jail deal.  Absolutely untrue.  Paxton did not even know about the case until it showed up in Talarico’s TV ads.

Talarico also called Hoffman’s lawyer, one of Paxton’s biggest donors.  That gentleman, Gerry Morris, told reporters he cannot stand Ken Paxton and called himself a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.  He also said Paxton “had absolutely nothing to do with the plea deal in this case.”

The ads are running non-stop in the boy’s hometown.  The family has begged Talarico to cease retraumatizing their child.  He has ignored their pleas.  He has lied by saying that the campaign has been in contact with the family.  Talarico has discovered that a child’s worst years will move numbers if one says Epstein often enough.

Contemptible is way too mild a word for James Talarico.  Yet somehow I feel we have not yet seen the bottom of the barrel.  If, God forbid, the boy should commit suicide, will Talarico try to blame Paxton for what he, James Talarico, caused?

One last nugget in this story is the largest donor to James Talarico’s campaign.  This donor has given $11.5 million which is helping to fund these ads.  The donor’s name is Epstein-pal, Reid Hoffman.  Is there some quid pro quo going on here?
