On November 23rd a fire broke out in Urumqi’s Jixiang Yuan district in an apartment complex. Because of the Chinese COVID lockdown, it is claimed the doors to the building were locked from the outside; people could not escape.
Fire trucks were not permitted to get close enough to the building and the people locked inside could not escape. The current death toll stands at 44 victims.
This horrible tragedy seems to have lit a firestorm of protest from suppressed anger within the Chinese people. There have been significant public uprisings across China against the continual COVID lockdowns. The loss of innocent life seems to be fueling rare public protests against the ruling junta just as the death of a young woman in Iran has fueled continual protests there. ...
