Odds & Ends

A home run.  I have to hand to the Biden administration. Never before in American history has every single appointment been someone that is both incompetent and with a passion to tear down and destroy the country.

The political class has lately produced an impressive string of debacles: the Afghanistan pullout, urban crime waves, easily foreseen inflation, mayhem at the southern border, a self-generated energy crisis, a pandemic response that wrought little good and vast ruin.

Then there are the perennial national embarrassments: a mind-bogglingly expensive welfare state that doesn’t work, public schools that make kids dumber, universities that nurture destructive grievances and noxious ideologies, and a news media nobody trusts.

Need I go on?

School board members of the Sunol Glen School Unified School District in California recently voted to allow only the state flag or the U.S. flag to be flown over school buildings.  Special interest flags would no longer be allowed to be flown on school property.

More signs that Biden is being encouraged to consider not being President much longer.  NYC, a Democratic stronghold, has demanded that New York Gov. Hochul, a Democrat, sue President Joe Biden’s administration over the migrant and border crisis.  Public actions like this against a President who is a member of your own party are rarely seen when a Democrat is in the Oval Office.

Most people know by now the Governor of New Mexico decided to ignore the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  On Friday Governor  Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) used a public health order to ban firearms in Albuquerque.  The move has generated widespread criticism from both Democrats and Republicans amid concerns that the order violates the Second Amendment.

There is a case that has been winding its way through the courts.  It is Missouri, Louisiana, etc. vs Biden, et al.  It is a First Amendment case where the states have claimed that the Biden administration totally violated the first amendment, by forcing and coercing social media and other organizations to ban speech, block opinion and censor information they determined was against their interests.  In other words, the government was using private companies and enterprises to do what they are categorically prohibited from doing.

Twenty-two years ago, America suffered the worst terrorist attack on our soil in our history. Thousands of Americans, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and children were murdered by Islamic terrorists when they flew passenger jets into buildings.

People like Barack Obama would probably criticize my saying Islamic terrorists.  But that is who they were.  And the truth has no agenda.

Coming For Your Guns

What has just happened in New Mexico is what anyone with two working brain cells could see was coming back in 2020 and 2021.  Various state governors used “Public Health Emergency” declarations so that they could rule by fiat.  This resulted in the removal of constitutional and legislatively enacted rights.  People were being conditioned to this approach to governance.

The governor of New Mexico, Michelle Grisham, has declared gun possession unlawful.  Grisham has done under the auspices of a “Public Health Emergency.”  Residents of Albuquerque will become exposed to fines ranging up to $5,000 if they found to be carrying either open or concealed.

Democratic Rights and Norms

Now that the Republican campaign season is officially open with the first primary debate over in Wisconsin, it is probably a good idea to see what promises they are making that everyone knows they will not keep.  During the runup to these events and in interviews afterwards, the erstwhile candidates to be first loser often go deep into their visions for the country.  Again this is just blathering on their part but it is often fun to see just how hypocritical these people can be.
