CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. is a cybersecurity technology company based in Sunnyvale, California. It provides endpoint security, threat intelligence, and cyberattack response services. The company has been involved in investigations of several high profile cyberattacks, including the 2016 Democratic National Committee email leak, and the Democratic National Committee cyber attacks.
CrowdStrike was part of the narrative that Russians had colluded with the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. This was a result of the supposed hack of the DNC computers by the Russians. This conclusion was reached by CrowdStrike without the FBI or any other US law enforcement agency being allowed to review computers, servers, server logs, etc. CNN was in the forefront of reporting that the DNC had declined requests from the FBI to review its computer services.
The denial of access was reported on various media sites on both sides of the aisle. These included The Hill, CBS News, Washington Times, CNN and RedState.
With all this in mind, why is CrowdStrike trying to back away from this narrative now? That narrative is that CrowdStrike reported the results of their investigation to be Russian links to the hack of the DNC servers.
