Recently the Trump administration has proposed, for Title IX purposes, to define that gender is determined by a person’s genitalia at birth. Of course, that is the way that sex had been determined for eons. HHS indicated that government agencies needed an explicit and uniform definition of gender. Gender would be determined “on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable.” Any dispute about one’s sex would be clarified using genetic testing.
This proposal led to instant outrage from the LGBT lobby who undoubtedly saw greenbacks flying away. This would be because it would become more difficult to file lawsuits for discrimination.
Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, said, “This is a really intrusive policy that doesn’t make any sense scientifically.”
Really? What doesn’t make sense scientifically is the whole concept of transgenderism. Gender dysphoria is a recognized mental illness. Hollywood elites and transgender activists cannot change that as much as they would like to.
Traditional sexual norms have been under assault in this country for a long time. Title IX was specific to a person’s sex until the Obama administration decided that the plain language of the law had some hidden meanings that none of us knew about. The federal government under Obama tried to deny the truth of what sex is. Americans were directed to treat “transgenders” as really being of the sex they imagine they are, due to their mental illness.
This created an uproar in the schools when the Feds decreed that Title IX was being violated if schools did not permit a child to use whatever bathroom/locker room he/she wanted to use. Such use was to be based on how children viewed themselves with regards to male vs female.
Legal punishments were put into place for those who opt for a more traditional view of a person’s sex. Recently a male physical education teacher was punished because he refused to supervise the boys’ locker room while a teenage girl who identified as a boy was showering there.
Part of the attempt here has been to ignore the mental illness that exists. It is a well documented fact that transgenders, who transition to the sex opposite of their birth sex, commit suicide at a rate which is 20 times the norm. Yet any attempt to research this is slapped down by administrators who are afraid of backlash from powerful LGBT activists.
It seems that it is better to have a 40% suicide rate than to look into the problems of “transgenders.” James Caspian is one who challenged the LGBT movement on transgenderism. He said, “I’m not anti-trans. I’ve helped hundreds of people while they were transitioning, but when I started to do preliminary research I was taken aback by what I discovered.

“It wasn’t so much that there seemed to be increasing numbers of younger people, particularly females, transitioning, but that there were so many of them who seemed to be later reversing the transition.
“Some of those young women were saying they felt they’d made a mistake, but had been influenced by a kind of social movement ramped up by the internet.
“When I talked to colleagues about what I was finding, one said: ‘I didn’t think we were supposed to talk about that.
“I think we’ve arrived at a point as a society where people are afraid to say what they think, and that’s not a good thing in my field.”
As Apolo Villalobos noted,
“One of the things that is disturbing about this frenzy is the intimidation, the drive for total conformity, the insistence that everyone must adhere to the transgenders’ fantasies (that they have become an actual woman or an actual man), that people must act accordingly, and that they must jettison any feelings of disgust at the idea of sexual self-mutilation. The world must accommodate them, must go along with their fantasies. And since distorting language is one of the goals of totalitarians, persons must address them in the appropriate way and must treat them like they want to be treated. The transgender must be addressed in their preferred pronouns; people must be forced to do so (or, as in the case of the University of Minnesota they can be fired or expelled. In California, New York City and Canada, they will be sent to jail. You can lose your Planet Fitness membership. Or your Twitter account). No matter how self-evident a fact one cites, one can be penalized.”
This is another free speech issue. Discussion is being suppressed by a small, but vocal, minority in the LGBT community. They have spent years promoting transgenderism as normal. They have tried to create a protected class of people who deserve special respect because of their mental illness. Of course, they do not refer to it as a mental illness.
It is patently absurd that one’s imagined sex, which represents a psychiatric disorder, should dictate to the government whether such a person is legally male or female. Fortunately the Trump administration is bringing some sanity and common sense to the discussion. Perhaps soon these people can get the help they need and we can stop pushing powerful hormonal drugs on teenagers during puberty.
