How bad does the situation at the southern border have to be for Democrats to admit it’s an emergency? Are there any numbers of illegal border crossings into the United States that would cause Democrats to recognize an emergency?
Appearing Friday on Morning Joe, Jeh Johnson, DHS secretary during former President Barack Obama’s second term, was blunt in addressing the border crisis. He declared Friday the southern border is in a “crisis” state, a claim the Trump administration made last year.
“We are truly in a crisis,” Johnson told MSNBC “Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski.
“On Tuesday there were 4,000 apprehensions. I know that 1,000 [apprehensions] overwhelms the system and I cannot begin to imagine what 4,000 a day looks like,” he said.
This departure from the Democratic talking points seems to have shocked the panelists. It contradicts the statements of most Democrats and undermines the fake news narrative that CNN’s Jim Acosta’s has been promoting that there is no crisis at the border.
March 2019 appeared to be headed towards a total of 100,000 apprehensions for illegal border crossings. This also means that 2019 is headed towards a total of 1 million arrests.
This is a direct result of “catch and release” that was so popular with the Democrats under President Obama. It is also a direct result of funding legislation that the Democrats passed by shutting the government down. That legislation limits the ability of ICE to keep criminals in custody. Illegals know that they must be released into American society after a certain number of days. They are supposed to appear for their hearing but they never show. They just disappear.
The border needs to be shut down now. Left wing talking points about how shutting the border down will impact some jobs has some validity. However, unrestricted flows of illegals across the border will severely impact the lower end of the job market in this country driving wages for low skilled workers into the basement.
Mass illegal and unchecked immigration to the country has stagnated U.S. wages for a long time. Both Republican and Democratic administrations have been part of the problem.
This has also exacerbated the income inequality problem by redistributing the wealth of America’s working and middle class to higher income earners.
PDJT understands all of this. His effort to protect American wages was shutdown by the Democrats as well as some Republicans. So, just when some Americans were making strides towards a better life, the Democrats and a few RINO’s are trying to drive them back into abject poverty. When will they put partisan politics aside and decide to stand up for Americans?
We need to stop ALL IMMIGRATION in the Inited States for at least TEN YEARS. Deport all illegals, place armed troops on all of our borders. Try all people that support the invasion of America for treason and subject them to the penalities there of
