The circus was in town in Washington, but the clowns did not show up. In what was characterized by most media outlets including those friendly to the Democrats as a bad day, Robert Mueller came off as what we thought he was. A figurehead for the investigation. A public face who was supposed to bring credibility.
Mueller didn’t pick his team. The DOJ/FBI team was already carrying out the “insurance policy” when he arrived. They had come over from the bogus Crossfire Hurricane counter-intelligence investigation. Mueller was selected by them.
The coup plotters were behind the scenes trying to find something, anything that they could pin on the President. Trying to trap PDJT into an obstruction of justice charge was the principal activity of Mueller’s team. Mueller would have been the face of reason in presenting such evidence.
Instead, at the hearings Mueller often appeared lost, confused and unaware of the conclusions found in the report that has his name on it. Mueller will now go down as the face of the coup that tried to overthrow the government of the United States. His name will be forever linked to this plot even though he was not there when it started.
The Democrats had hoped to obscure the origins of the plot with Mueller’s testimony. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) destroyed that ploy very early. Jordan brought forth the role of western intelligence asset Joseph Mifsud and how the Mueller “small group” ignored his involvement in the beginnings of the Russian collusion hoax. They not only ignored his involvement, but refused to do anything about Mifsud lying to the FBI on multiple occasions.
Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) questioned Robert Mueller about exoneration. Mueller presented no evidence of guilt, yet stated the investigation “would not exonerate” the President. Turner obliterated this clearly biased sentence of Mueller’s.
As any first year law student in criminal law would know, prosecutors do not exonerate people. They either charge a crime or they do not charge a crime. This is true for the municipal court prosecutor, the county DA, a state’s AG or the Attorney General of the United States. Throwing this sentence about exoneration at the end of the report was designed to allow the Democrats and their lapdog media pals room to continue the attempted coup.
Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX) destroyed how the Mueller Report was written. Ratcliffe showed just how far outside the rules and procedures of the Justice Department and the cause of justice Mueller’s investigation had gone. Ratcliffe noted,
“Donald Trump is not above the law, but he damn sure is not below the law which is where this report puts him.”
The lone apparent bright spot for the Democrats and coup plotters occurred during the morning session. Mueller seemed to agree with Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) that the investigation had uncovered criminal obstruction of justice by Trump that could be prosecuted once Trump left office. Trump wasn’t prosecuted because of the Office of Legal Counsel’s standing opinion that a sitting president cannot be indicted. Needless to say, the rabid anti-Trump media quickly ran with this.
But there was no joy in Mudville for Democrats in the afternoon. Mueller opened the second round of questioning by correcting the record, saying his office “did not reach a determination as to whether the president committed a crime.”
All in all, it was a good day for the good people of America.
