For more than a month the Tara Reade accusations against Joe Biden have been out. Up to last Thursday the MSM had spent almost no time at all covering the story. Not a single reporter had asked a question of Joe Biden about the accusations during that period of time.
This is the exact opposite of what would have happened if a Republican had been accused. The media would have been consumed with trying to force the resignation of such an individual without ever trying to find out if there was any substance to the story. Witness the Brett Kavanaugh witch hunt.
Then the dam began to break. Chris Matthews spent almost 8 full minutes on the story. Other outlets picked it up. To say that it is a trending story right now would be an understatement.
Planned Parenthood has gotten in on the act. Of course, Planned Parenthood’s current approach of calling for a response is a bit different from their approach to the accusations against Brett Kavanaugh. Then the organization tweeted,
There will be no comments here on the validity or lack thereof of Tara Reade’s accusations. Let those who are more astute in these matters make those judgments.
The question here is “Why now?” The MSM studiously ignored this subject for more than a month. Now, all of a sudden, we are hearing from talking heads on different MSM networks. Why now? What are the Democrats trying to cover up? What do the Democrats not want the public to notice?
The COVID-19 crisis is beginning to lose its grasp on the public’s consciousness. People are fed up with lockdowns in many states. Protests are popping up all over the country. This is not a good look for the Democrats. It is mostly Democratic governors who have been acting like tinpot dictators. They cannot afford to have such protests dominating the news cycle. Protests like these in support of basic American rights and freedoms are contagious. Riling up the voters by suppressing these rights a few months before an election is never a good idea.
There is an old adage in the advertising industry. Sex sells. Perhaps the Democrats believe that they can air out this accusation and successfully put it to bed so that it will be a distant memory in November. At the same time this will push the stories about protests across the country to the back burner. Complicit allies in the MSM are already beginning to try to sell the idea that Reade is a right-wing plant to smear Biden.
But, perhaps there is another reason for allowing the story to surface in the media right now. The short title of that reason would be the LTG Michael Flynn case. The MSM has not devoted much time to this case. Exculpatory evidence recently released by the DOJ to Flynn’s defense team have exposed outrageous corruption by Barack “No Scandal” Obama’s FBI and DOJ. The actions taken by these two agencies have been akin to the KGB of the old Soviet Union.
Getting the public mesmerized by the sex stories (I’m sure there will be more to come) about Biden may distract the public from the absolutely corrupt actions detailed in the recent document disclosures by the current DOJ. To say that Michael Flynn’s civil rights were violated would be like saying the Great Flood was just a rainstorm. The Democrats cannot afford to have any more scandals surface in the public consciousness from the Obama administration.
This approach may also indicate panic by Democrats about potential indictments coming from US Attorney John Durham against elite members of the Obama administration. These indictments would be from the attempt to oust PDJT from office by any means necessary. The Democrats may be willing to offer Biden up now as a sacrificial lamb in order to try to save the Democratic Party going forward.
So which one of these is it? Or is it all three? Or are there more serious crimes about to be exposed?
Time will tell. It is time to get some popcorn.
