As anyone who has been following here knows, AG Barr’s DOJ is investigating an attempt by corrupt individuals to rig the results of the 2016 election and, when that failed, to overturn those results. Barr never makes legal statements without having all the evidence beforehand. This is the way he teaches upcoming lawyers.
The following answer by AG Barr to a reporter’s question is instructive as to where that investigation may be.
”Now what happened to the president – and I’ve said this many times – what happened to the president in the 2016 election; and throughout the first two years of his administration was abhorrent. It was a grave injustice and it was unprecedented in American history.”
“The law enforcement and intelligence apparatus of this country were involved in advancing a false and utterly baseless Russian-collusion narrative against the president.”
Barr is saying that he can prove this statement to be true. Barr goes on to say that potential criminal infractions are being pursued according to the only standard that should matter. That standard is being able to prove criminality beyond a reasonable doubt.
We know that the only purpose of the Mueller Hit Squad was to find anything that would lead to their political allies being able to remove a sitting president. Failing that, then the Hit Squad would create a narrative from whole cloth. These were the purposes of the cases against Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn and Michael Cohen. They were trying to manufacture something that could be used against the President. In other words, they wanted these people to lie.
It seems to me that Barr is saying that his friend, Robert Mueller, was complicit in that scheme. This would also seem to ensnare Rod Rosenstein another person he considers a friend. This is a major shift in the landscape.
As has been mentioned before, AG Barr has to walk a tightrope if true justice is to be achieved. That only be achieved with indictments that stand up in a court of law and result in convictions. Barr has to avoid the political landmines that could undermine the prosecutions of this corrupt enterprise.
What does this mean from a practical point of view? It probably means that the second and third tier elements of the DOJ and FBI, the worker bees, will be encouraged to give up Brennan, Clapper, Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Yates, Rice, etc.
Unless someone recorded Obama giving orders in this process, Obama will probably skate. Now I am not saying that Obama wasn’t involved in this. The Obama administration politicized various elements of the US government against their political opposition. This includes the IRS, FBI, DOJ, NSA, etc. It’s just that I doubt he was stupid enough to have committed any of this to a medium that can be produced in court. And only God will know what Joe Biden may have done or known.
I believe that AG Bill Barr is a white hat. Barr swooped in and ended the Mueller investigation. If he hadn’t, there would have been more baseless indictments and trumped up charges against supporters of PDJT. The Deep State would have been trying to keep anyone who could be helpful to the President from working for the administration. I am certain that the whole dog and pony show would still be in full swing if not for Barr coming out of retirement. PDJT trusts the man. Let us hope and pray that Barr (Durham) can get bullet-proof cases and succeed in sending most of this scum to jail for a long time.
I will end with this quote from AG Barr.
“Well, as I said in my confirmation hearing, one of the reasons I came back is because I was concerned that people were feeling there were two standards of justice in this country. And that the political and that the justice, or the law enforcement process was being used to play political games. And I wanted to make sure that we restore confidence in the system. There’s only one standard of justice.”
If Barr does not succeed, then the country of our founding fathers will cease to exist.
