Whenever a mass shooting takes place, the Left is quick to come out and accuse Republicans of not caring about people’s lives because they refuse to enact “common sense” gun reform legislation. Of course, such legislation always involves taking guns away from law-abiding citizens. Democrats will lie and say that background checks would have stopped the current tragedy. The only problem is always that such background checks already exist.
The tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, has seen the usual loonies on the Left become unglued. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) went so far as to suggest that the Republicans are helping to create mass shootings “by design.”

Anybody with two working brain cells recognizes this for what it is. This is a naked political ploy to try to firm up the Democratic base prior to the mid-terms. This is a big lie. Perhaps it is fortunate that the Disinformation Governance Board has been paused. Of course, since he is on the Left, they would have declared his lies to be the new truth.
Swalwell is just doing what the Left always does and that is to project onto their political opposition what they themselves are doing. Do-Something-itis showed up on the Senate floor. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) went to the floor of a mostly empty Senate to exhort his colleagues to do something. He repeatedly asked why are we here. Speaker Pelosi, that famous Catholic, who supports infanticide and the killing of unborn children, called on Congress to enact “common-sense, life-saving legislation into law.”
Of course, she is just engaging in a hollow lecture. What are common-sense measures that would actually work? Allowing concealed carry in the schools by school personnel would work.
“After the Ma’alot massacre in 1974, Israel instituted a policy in which volunteer school personnel, parents, and grandparents received special training from the civil guard, and were seeded throughout the schools armed with discreetly concealed 9mm semiautomatic pistols. Since that time, there has been no successful mass murder at an Israeli school, and every attempt at such has been quickly shortstopped by the good guys’ gunfire, with minimal casualties among the innocent.”
This is common sense. Larry Correia notes:
The single best way to respond to a mass shooter is with an immediate, violent response. The vast majority of the time, as soon as a mass shooter meets serious resistance, it bursts their fantasy world bubble. Then they kill themselves or surrender. This has happened over and over again.
Does this mean that every single time an active shooter is confronted by a good guy with a gun that this will be the result? No. We do not live in utopia. However, the stats on mass shooting events bear this out.
The average number of people shot in a mass shooting event when the shooter is stopped by law enforcement: 14. The average number of people shot in a mass shooting event when the shooter is stopped by civilians: 2.5. The reason is simple. The armed civilians are there when it started.
Again, this is common sense. If Democrats are for “common-sense solutions,” why do they oppose this? How many lives would have been saved in Uvalde?
The Democrats oppose this because they want to disarm the public. Obama has said his biggest regret while President was that he was unable to disarm America.
Since the Democrats oppose this common-sense measure, mass shootings are clearly being facilitated by their opposition to this solution. The Democrats do not care about the kids in Uvalde or Sandy Hook or any other locale that experienced a mass shooting. The children in these places merely become pawns in the Democrats’ game plan to end gun ownership in this country.
To repeat what I said before:
1: Evil will happen regardless of what the law reads or how you prepare for it.
2: Being prepared for evil is the best way to survive it.
3: Evil prefers easy targets of opportunity.
4: Guns in the hands of trained good people are the best bet to stop those with evil in their hearts.
5: Refusal to acknowledge any of the above turns you into a target of opportunity.
It is time to harden our schools.
