The images coming out of Florida are unreal. They remind me of the pictures after Hurricane Andrew. They re-affirm the power of Mother Nature. Hurricane Ian has caused widespread damage at a level that is simply hard to fathom.
Absolutely heartbreaking footage captured by our surge probe of catastrophic storm surge washing away homes. I have never seen anything like this. We have now left the area as hoards of emergency crew have arrived. #HurricaneIan

What it looked like before Ian.
Drone footage shows the aftermath of Hurricane Ian at a marina in Fort Myers, Florida.
“Everything is pretty much wiped out,” says Anvar Ruziev, who captured the video. https://t.co/QT02b41osK pic.twitter.com/UllLlCT7nf

I'm sick to my stomach seeing these photos of the incredible storm surge that hit Fort Myers, Florida as the eye of Hurricane Ian moved onshore Wednesday.
Easily over 10 feet of water up to the roofs in some spots. pic.twitter.com/S6tViQf5Kv— Eric Zernich (@EricZernich) September 29, 2022
Reports coming out of the area indicate total utility failure. It could take weeks even months before power can be restored to some areas. Electric substations have been completely wiped out in some areas. The size and amount of debris is mind boggling. Ian moved debris weighing tons. Slabs of concrete have been seen in drone videos all over the place.
Recovery will take a long time.
