Odds and Ends

Planned Parenthood (what a misnomer that is) wants to expand the Supreme Court in the wake of Roe vs Wade being overturned.  According to Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood, changes are needed because of the recent attacks “on our democratic rights and our democratic freedoms.”

I wonder what freedoms are being attacked?   It couldn’t be the “right” to murder an unborn child, could it?  Could it be the “right” to let a baby die that survives an abortion?

Johnson wants the Supreme Court expanded so it can be packed with justices who will ignore the Constitution and legislate from the bench.  Right now that seems unlikely since there appear to be 5 or 6 judges who actually believe in the Constitution.

In a recent decision at the Supreme Court, Justice Gorsuch authored a piece about the COVID emergency.  A highlight section:

“Since March 2020, we may have experienced the greatest intrusions on civil liberties in the peacetime history of this country. Executive officials across the country issued emergency decrees on a breathtaking scale. Governors and local leaders imposed lockdown orders forcing people to remain in their homes. They shuttered businesses and schools, public and private. They closed churches even as they allowed casinos and other favored businesses to carry on. They threatened violators not just with civil penalties but with criminal sanctions too.

“They surveilled church parking lots, recorded license plates, and issued notices warning that attendance at even outdoor services satisfying all state social-distancing and hygiene requirements could amount to criminal conduct. They divided cities and neighborhoods into color-coded zones, forced individuals to fight for their freedoms in court on emergency timetables, and then changed their color-coded schemes when defeat in court seemed imminent.

“Federal executive officials entered the act too. Not just with emergency immigration decrees. They deployed a public-health agency to regulate landlord-tenant relations nationwide. They used a workplace-safety agency to issue a vaccination mandate for most working Americans. They threatened to fire noncompliant employees, and warned that service members who refused to vaccinate might face dishonorable discharge and confinement. Along the way, it seems federal officials may have pressured social-media companies to suppress information about pandemic policies with which they disagreed.”

Well said.  I am starting to like this justice.

NYC has opted to become part of the Red Chinese system of government.

New York City will begin tracking the carbon footprint of household food consumption and putting caps on how much red meat can be served in public institutions as part of a sweeping initiative to achieve a 33% reduction in carbon emissions from food by 2030.

Apparently Mayor Adams has bought into the idea that food is one of the biggest sources of emissions (you know what kind of emissions).

I have a suggestion for the mayor.  Embrace the 15 minute city idea and see how many people leave for other parts of the country where freedom still exists.

NYC status as a sanctuary city is fraying around the edges.

At least six more Big Apple schools are set to start temporarily housing migrants in their gyms, prompting all hell to break loose Monday among parents frantic over safety and potential learning disruptions.

“To bus people to our school and expect the community to absorb them is just insane,” fumed Virginia Vu, a PTA member and parent at Brooklyn’s MS 577 in Williamsburg — adding some parents have already threatened to at least temporarily pull their kids out of the sixth-through-eighth grade school.

Build the wall.

More insanity from the Left.

A Manhattan college professor flipped out on a group of students who set up an information table opposing abortion, cursing and tossing their pamphlets, video of the interaction shows.

Shellyne Rodriguez, an adjunct professor, told the pro-life students they were “triggering” her students by tabling inside Hunter College in Manhattan earlier this month.

“You’re not educating s–t. This is f–king propaganda,” the art professor told the students tabling on May 2.

So, according to Rodriquez, opposing the murder of the most vulnerable among us is violence.

One cannot make this stuff up.

The manifesto of the Nashville trans terrorist who murdered three children and three adults still has not been released.  Why?

Senility is real.  Biden has no idea what he is saying.
