Odds & Ends

The Hunter Biden sweetheart deal fell apart on Wednesday in a Delaware court room.  One of the topline issues was an admission by federal prosecutors that an additional investigation of Hunter Biden is ongoing, as the tax evasion and federal gun charge deal was brokered.

The judge noted that the deal appeared to exempt Hunter Biden from any future charges.  To be sure, the judge asked the DOJ directly.  When Judge Noreika questioned the prosecution about this immunity implication, the US attorneys said future immunity was not part of this agreement.  At that point the Hunter Biden defense team then acted surprised, saying if this is the accurate position of the DOJ then any plea deal is “null and void.

From Sundance here’s the non-pretend version:

The corrupt U.S. attorney’s office organized, coordinated and colluded with the Hunter Biden team to structure a deal that would provide cover for Hunter Biden for any further crimes.  This is corrupt as hell.  The judge sniffed this motive and asked the DOJ directly.  The DOJ could not make that admission for obvious reasons and denied this intent. Thus, the Hunter defense team then had to say without the previously agreed future immunity, the deal was off.

Hunter then pled not guilty and was released on bond with various restrictions.  The list follows:

HUNTER IS REQUIRED TO:

  • NOT possess a firearm
  • NOT use or possess any controlled substances (including marijuana) unless prescribed
  • Submit to full federal supervision
  • NO use of alcohol AT ALL
  • Seek active employment
  • Submit to testing for prohibited substances
  • Participate in substance abuse therapy

Hmm.  I wonder what the next step will be to protect old Joe because that was what this deal was all about.

NYC has decided that they are at full capacity for handling illegal aliens.  Some 90,000 have ended up at the Big Apple since last Spring.

New York City is planning to house up to 1,000 migrants in the Creedmoor Psychiatric Hospital parking lot in Queens.

There are currently more migrants than homeless Americans in the city’s shelter system — and more are arriving each day.

The city plans to use the parking lot as a camp for adult men seeking asylum in the US.

“This center will provide not just a place to stay but also critical services to support these individuals on their journey,” Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol said at a press conference, according to a report from Fox News.

Hmm.  Just what critical services will a psychiatric hospital be providing adult illegal males?

On Wednesday the Fed once again raised the interest rates.  This put the lie to all those who said the Fed was pivoting.  Not only that but the Fed left the door open for additional rate increases in the future.

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates 11 times for a total of 550 basis points since last year – 7 times in 2022 and 4 times in 2023 – in an effort to hedge inflation.

It’s not working.

Inflation rates are STILL high.

Could it be that energy costs are still high?
