A long time commenter on the political scene offers his insights into what happens with the expiration of authorities for FISA 702 that has been in the forefront of Washington conversations for the last couple of weeks.
NOTHING HAPPENS ACTUALLY!
FISA and 702 WILL PROCEED and the spying continues.
… the ONLY WAY TO STOP SPYING ON AMERICAN CITIZENS IN US JURISDICTIONS IS THAT PRESIDENT TRUMP SIGN AND EXECUTIVE ORDER FORCING ALL EXECUTIVE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT< DIRECT EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTORS TO CEASE ALL SPYING.
President Trump has always had this authority and power, He KNOWS HE HAS THIS AUTHORITY AND POWER>
and this entire charade about fisa and 702 can finally be exposed for what it really is.
it is a means to collect private data and then to enrich the secret police spy state, Congress and all of its sponsors. the courts too.
there can be no other explanation that survives sunlight when you realize just how wealthy and quickly that wealth has been realized for so called law makers.
they use intelligence gathering as a means to enrich themselves. it is a form of insider trading. It should be illegal.
President Trump has the opportunity to make things right and actually start draining the swamp. If that is his legitimate and authentic purpose…And he has stated this several times, countless times. Then he can act tonight right after midnight and issue the executive order:
“henceforth, no government employee, administrator, secretary, chief or their staff and contractors may spy on and collect any information about any US Citizen in US Jurisdictions using any of the surveillance programs. Any collection of private data, whether direct or gathered from open source or private company, is not longer authorized under penalty of law and this executive order. Any employee caught spying under any of these programs for any reason without a specific and measurable evidence of probable cause presented to a federal judge will be considered a criminal act. Thank you for your attention to this matter”.
and that is how you get the ball rolling. This is how you make it an issue that no one can ignore anymore. This is how you make absolutely sure that the secret police spy state and our so called law makers are put on notice. You will not be allowed to enrich yourselves and use the spying programs to criminally make money. Nor may you use any of these programs to manipulate legal cases, business transactions and fair and open competition.
Then we can start to have a real meaningful debate in the open and force our so called law makers to answer very specific questions about the true sources of their wealth, influence and power.
Then we can ask the most obvious question that no one seems to actually ever ask:
what cases that resulted in a conviction were made possible by FISA and 702. Show those cases. Show me verifiable proof that these crimes and criminals could not have been caught using a regular warrant from a federal judge. You know, how the regular rule of law applies?
then we can start moving toward a world where freedom and liberty isn’t just a term of art, but a real and protected condition..a normal society should never tolerate a central state of elected officials who use secret courts and secret spying to enrich themselves. We deserve a better government. Let the accountability begin tonight President Trump.
This is your opportunity to actually do something good that will be lasting and meaningful.
Just write the Executive Order and lets start making America SAFE AGAIN!
