Exceptionalism

The following is a message to all Americans from Sundance over at CTH.

Happy Labor Day, Scruffnecks! …. and that has nothing to do with the color of your collar.

I’ve sent this message before, and I repeat it because the one consistency in this crazy world of ours is our ability to remember that not a single person has the power to destabilize us. Everything of great purpose comes from within, and from a loving God. As Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn famously said:

“The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie. One word of truth outweighs the world.”

Freedom is dying in the West. In the wake of the attempted assassination of President Trump, we have already seen the professional politicians in DC start the process to outlaw private communication apps. This time around it started with Senator Lindsey Graham saying that perhaps electronic encryption programs needed a legislative ban as an outcome of the Trump assassination attempt. Why? Because Thomas Matthew Crooks used encrypted messaging accounts on various platforms. This comes under the heading of “never let a crisis go to waste.”

I Am An American

This is a rerun of a post from several years ago. It is even more appropriate today than it was then.

Freedom is a valuable and precious gift worth fighting for. As Sundance notes:

We Americans come from solid stock. We carry in our DNA a fortitude of individual identity that is not dependent on government for affirmation or permission. We are the beneficiaries of those who believed in stubborn independence.

On the day when we celebrate the birth of America, we should ask what it means to be a citizen of this republic. ...

New World Order

One hears a lot about the polarization of this country into two radically different groups of people. One such group believes in the absolutism of an all-powerful government who provides for all of one’s needs from cradle to grave. The other group believes in individualism, self-determination and an inherent belief in right and wrong, in good and evil.

Assange Freed

Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, has been released from prison. Assange, who had been imprisoned in the United Kingdom for the last five years after spending seven years in the Ecuadorian Embassy, reached a plea deal with the Biden DOJ that will allow him to return to his native Australia. All details of the plea deal have not been released at this point in time.

Censorship

The Devil and his many minions hate satire. Why? Properly done, it makes the target into a laughingstock. It is a much better approach than violence.

Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) is a master of incisive quotes and satire. Kennedy recently wrote an opinion column that was critical of trans athletes and USA Today-owned newspapers deleted the piece without even notifying Kennedy.

The problem? According to the Gannett-owned USA Today, the op-ed contained “inflammatory” speech. According to Gannett editor Michael McCarter:

Trump Opposes FISA Re-Authorization

FISA-702 authorization expires on April 19^th. That’s the authorization for warrantless spying that is supposed to be limited to foreign nationals residing outside the United States. However, in indisputable fact, access to the NSA database in question is routinely used to spy on Americans, particularly those who do not agree with the policies of the current government. Of course, this is unconstitutional but they do it anyway.
