Counting COVID-19 Deaths

Comments Off on Counting COVID-19 Deaths

Something strange is going on.  While the number of deaths from COVID-19 are screamed at us every day from the talking bobbleheads in the media, the number of deaths from heart attacks and strokes have plummeted.  This makes no sense.  If anything, given the anxiety and stress of this crisis, we should be seeing more heart attacks not less.  The same can be said for strokes.

Lies

Rahm Emanuel, former chief of staff for President Obama and current mayor of Chicago, once said, “Never let a crisis go to waste.”  He was espousing the idea of using a crisis to get other things approved that had no chance otherwise.

Today with the coronavirus crisis in full bloom, governors are misrepresenting and/or lying about conditions and circumstances to move their state up on the list to get supplies or to get more money from the federal government.

Democrats Hate Ordinary Americans Except At Election Time

Comments Off on Democrats Hate Ordinary Americans Except At Election Time

As some people had observed during the Obama administration, the Democrats only care about Americans at election time.  At all other times their only real concern is how much money they can gather in campaign donations from the “dark money” areas of the country.

This is the party that screams and hyperventilates about dark money in politics.   However, they are once again just projecting what they are doing.  The Democrats are the chief beneficiaries from such money.  Even during the 2008 election four of the five richest individuals who participated in donating money to campaigns did so to Democratic causes.

During the 2016 election the Democrats outspent the Republicans by more than 2 to 1.  At the same time they were doing this, they and their allies in the media were complaining about dark money in politics.

Great Numbers

      Comments Off on Great Numbers

The Bureau of Labor Statistics released the February jobs report last week that showed 273,000 jobs added in February.  This shattered the experts’ predictions that were expecting 175,000.  At the same time the BLS updated January and Decembers numbers to reflect 85,000 more jobs than previously reported.

These revisions are an interesting sidelight of the business of reporting labor numbers.  The initial numbers due reflect some incompleteness in the reporting so the updates are always instructive.  During the Obama administration there were updates on both sides of the ledger.  That is, a few months saw increases.  Most saw decreases.  During the Trump administration the updates have always shown underreporting during the initial release of the numbers.  I wonder why that is.

Coronavirus Update

      Comments Off on Coronavirus Update

The New England Journal of Medicine has published an editorial on Friday updating information about COVID-19.  In their editorial the authors point out that the virus is structurally similar to the one that caused the SARS outbreak in 2002-2003.

While the reported mortality rate has been between 2% and 3%, the facts emerging suggest that a significant number of people may contract the illness without major symptoms.  Certainly in some it may present itself as little more than a mild case of the sniffles.  The underlying data suggest that the symptoms vary, and fewer than one in six of the cases reported were “severe.”

So, many cases of the illness may go unreported.  It may turn out that this is little more than a severe case of seasonal influenza.  Those with weak immune systems may be particularly at risk of serious illness.  However, most cases will not be severe.

Coronavirus AKA COVID-19

Comments Off on Coronavirus AKA COVID-19

The coronavirus (COVID-19) that originated in Wuhan, China, is affecting the lives of literally billions of people around the world.  Speculation about its origins and its potential to sicken and kill people has been rampant.  Some of this has been fueled by China’s lack of transparency about how bad it was/is in China.  And there still exists a credibility problem with stats coming out of China.

China seems to be an incubator for these types of epidemics.  From the Spanish Flu of 1918-19 to the SARS outbreak some years back, the last hundred years has seen a series of viruses originate in China with the potential to be pandemics.

Just how bad is this particular outbreak?  Where did it actually originate?  What are the mortality rates?  Just as smallpox decimated the Native American population because of a lack of resistance to it, does this virus have a similar potential with different genetic populations around the world?  Once a person recovers, is re-infection possible?

Obama Created Trump Economy, Part 1

Comments Off on Obama Created Trump Economy, Part 1

On President’s Day former President Obama decided to make the ridiculous claim that he is responsible for the Trump economy.  Of course, this is just an obvious attempt to distract people from the success that PDJT has brought to the American economy.  The Democrats need to have this lie accepted by Americans if they hope to regain the White House in November.

Ballot Harvesting

      Comments Off on Ballot Harvesting

HR 1, Nancy Pelosi’s 1st submission to the House in 2019, allows for ballot harvesting.  What is ballot harvesting?  Ballot harvesting is the collection and submission of absentee or mail-in ballots by people who are not the voters themselves. The indiscriminate use of this practice is outlawed in most states and developed countries.  This is because of its susceptibility to election fraud.

California changed its rules before the 2018 election to allow persons other than close family members to collect and submit ballots. Large, last-minute submissions of votes in the election delayed results and altered the outcome of several elections from the outcome indicated by initial results.  In all cases the elections were eventually won by Democrats.  This reminds one of the old mayor of Chicago who used to ask, “How many votes do you need?”
