Presumptive Nominee

Last week after the New Hampshire primary, some members of the RNC drafted a resolution that would have labelled PDJT the “presumptive nominee.”  Of course, this ignores the fact that Nikki Haley still is in the race.  According to Republican sources, this would have moved the Republicans into “general election mode.”  This would allow them to focus on defeating Joe Biden.

The resolution was withdrawn after PDJT stated that he would rather finish the process through the ballot box.

“While I greatly appreciate the Republican National Committee (RNC) wanting to make me their PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE, and while they have far more votes than necessary to do it, I feel, for the sake of PARTY UNITY, that they should NOT go forward with this plan,” Trump wrote.

“I should do it the ‘Old Fashioned’ way, and finish the process off AT THE BALLOT BOX. Thank you to the RNC for the Respect and Devotion you have shown me!”

Ronna McDaniel, the RNC Chair, appeared to support this idea when she stated on the record that she does not have high hopes for Haley.  “I’m looking at the math and the path going forward, and I don’t see it for Nikki Haley.”

Was there another motive behind this attempt by the RNC to short circuit the primary process?

People forget that, prior to Donald Trump running for President, having thousands upon thousands of people showing up to a political rally was almost unheard of.  Was this abortive attempt at ending the primary process aimed at diluting the effect of seeing such crowds week after week?  Let’s remember, Trump is not a member of the Club.  Never Trump is a real movement with some Republican who owe their allegiances to the power brokers in DC.

I am glad that Trump said, “No way!”  Let the process play out in front of the whole country.
