China has been a blueprint for much of what has taken place in this decade in this country.ย History may not repeat but it often rhymes.
During Mao Zedongโs Cultural Revolution, dissidents, teachers, religious believers, and small business owners were dragged into the streets for what the regime called ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ ๐ฌ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ.โ These were ritual public humiliations designed to break a personโs will through forced confession. Victims were made to kneel, wear placards listing their โcrimes,โ and endure hours of chanted denunciation from mobs the Communist Party had incited but never explicitly ordered.
Couldnโt happen in America, right?
A widely circulated video essay lays archival Cultural Revolution footage side by side with clips from Americaโs 2020 unrest, drawing a direct visual parallel. โ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ฏโ๐ต ๐ช๐ต ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐ค๐ฉ๐ช๐ญ๐ญ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ช๐ง ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐น๐ข๐ค๐ต ๐ด๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ข๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ค๐ด ๐ถ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฃ๐บ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐๐ถ๐ข๐ณ๐ฅ๐ด ๐ธ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ถ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ข๐บ? ๐ ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ช๐ต ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ, ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐บ๐ฆ๐ด ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐บ ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ.โ the narration argues.ย The narration then cuts to footage of Americans forced to their knees in the street and pressured to ๐๐จ๐ง๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ โ๐ฐ๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ ๐โ on camera.
So, just as in the Cultural Revolution in China, Americans are forced to โconfessโ to non-existent crimes before the world.ย What is the psychological impact of such activities?ย This goes hand in hand with the โstolen landโ mantra.ย This is the George Floyd story.ย Floyd was a convicted felon who overdosed on illegal drugs.ย However, that did not match the story that the woke wanted to narrate.ย So, American wound up with more than $2 billion in damage from an insurrection as well as numerous deaths.
The parallels the video draws are specific: forced kneeling as a โsolidarityโ ritual, chanted slogans functioning as re-education, and a mob dynamic where professing innocence was treated as proof of guilt. โ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ช๐ด ๐๐ข๐ณ๐น๐ช๐ด๐ฎ, ๐ค๐ถ๐ญ๐ต๐ถ๐ณ๐ข๐ญ๐๐ข๐ณ๐น๐ช๐ด๐ฎ, ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ข ๐.โ one bystander says on camera. The essay closes by invoking Orwellโs โTwo Minutes Hateโ from 1984โ rage that โ๐ค๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐ด๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ค๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ง๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ฃ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ญ๐ช๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ข ๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ญ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฑ.โ
