The Curious Case of Jussie Smollett

On January 29th , the news flashed across the country that Jussie Smollett had been the victim of an attack that was characterized as a lynching.

Supposedly “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was attacked in the early morning hours on the 29^th. The two people who attacked him were “yelling out racial and homophobic slurs”. They also yelled, “this is MAGA country.” One of Smollett’s alleged attackers also put a rope around his neck.

The reaction around the country was predictable. To the elites on the left this was another example of the hate that PDJT was fostering around the country. Democratic candidates for President including Core Booker and Kamala Harris were quick to jump in and condemn the attack.

The problem? As the Chicago police did what police do, that is, investigate, they discovered that the whole thing was a hoax, a complete fraud. The investigation was thorough and dispassionate. Smollett orchestrated the whole thing. The police have a check for $3500 paying for the crime. They have the check number (#1603) from his bank account. He is caught. This is not a “who done it.” He did it.

In another example of the left trying to normalize political violence, Joseph “Jose” Alcoff (aka “Chepe,” aka “Jose Martin”) has been charged with aggravated assault and ethnic intimidation against two US Marines.

U.S. Marine Corps reservists Alejandro Godinez and Luis Torres, dressed in their military uniforms, testified that a large group of left-wing Antifa activists beat the Marines after mistaking them for participants in a November “We the People” rally in Philadelphia.

The two Marines were in the city for a Marine Corps event. According to the Marines’ testimony, they were touring historical landmarks near Front and Chestnut streets when approached by the Antifa thugs. Godinez testified that they were asked “Are you proud?” to which Godinez remembers responding “We are Marines.” Torres said that he remembers a second question “Are you Proud Boys?” an allusion to one of the alt-right groups behind the rally. Torres said he didn’t understand. “I didn’t know what Proud Boys meant,” he said.

The absolute insanity of the Covington Catholic High School debacle continues. For those with short memories, the media out and out lied about the Lincoln Memorial incident. A Catholic high school group, who were waiting for their bus after attending the annual March for Life, was the targets of two groups of leftist racists. These racists insulted them with all kinds of despicable slurs. This went on for over an hour. The kids responded with good-natured school-spirit chants, attempting to drown out the belligerent taunts. They didn’t respond with insults or any physical aggression of their own. They would have made Martin Luther King, Jr. proud by how they conducted themselves. When the busses arrived, they departed. We know what the media reported. ...

This weekend saw the annual March For Life in Washington. There were other marches this past weekend but they paled in comparison to the importance of the March For Life. Tens of thousands of people descended on Washington in the face of an approaching severe winter storm. They marched to protect the rights of those who cannot speak for themselves. They marched to protect the rights of the unborn.

Are the Democrats trying to impose a religious test on candidates for federal judgeships? In particular, are the Democrats trying to prevent practicing Catholics from ascending to federal judgeships? Of course, this would be contrary to the Constitution which specifically states that there can be no religious test for federal employment.

During 2017 confirmation hearings for the 7^thCircuit for Judge Amy Barrett, Sen. Dianne Feinstein said, “The dogma lives loudly within you.” Specifically Feinstein was referring to the fact that Barrett was a practicing Catholic who follows the Church’s teachings on life and marriage. Feinstein was attempting to draw a line whereby particular individuals would be automatically disqualified from being judges if they believed in their religion’s teachings.
