Odds & Ends

More signs that Biden is being encouraged to consider not being President much longer.  NYC, a Democratic stronghold, has demanded that New York Gov. Hochul, a Democrat, sue President Joe Biden’s administration over the migrant and border crisis.  Public actions like this against a President who is a member of your own party are rarely seen when a Democrat is in the Oval Office.

Climate protesters decided to shut down a road leading to Burning Man Festival in Nevada.  It turns out that the location they chose was on the Paiute Tribe’s Reservation.  Out West it is sometimes difficult to know when you are on tribal lands.  The result for the protesters was a far cry from what they expected.

Affirmative Action & The Bar

There has been much discussion recently about the Supreme Court decision to bar discrimination in college admissions based on the color of one’s skin.  Some of the far left have said it is the end of minorities (think black and brown) being admitted to the college of their choice.

How racist is that idea?  Blacks and Hispanics cannot compete with whites and Asians without government help according to these people.

Dr. Tom Woods has published a piece about racial quotas in medical schools.  Actions like that of Dr. Wang indicate that the pendulum is swinging back.

Yes, I know we’re a “litigious society,” as they say, but it still makes me happy when a good guy sues bad guys who never expected to have to pay for their wrongdoing.

The good guy in question is Dr. Norman Wang, who until 2020 had been a mild-mannered academic who had attracted no controversy of any kind. A cardiologist, Dr. Wang was a professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and director of the fellowship program in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. ...

Democratic Party Has Been Hijacked

1 Comment on Democratic Party Has Been Hijacked

The Democratic Party was inaugurated by Thomas Jefferson and at its birth was firmly opposed to a strong, central government.   Jefferson’s philosophy was based on the fundamental belief that the people are capable of self-government.  Jefferson championed states’ rights and strict constitutional interpretation.

Dr. Tom Woods has provided us with another valuable insight into the current madness that engulfs the “democratically-elected” governments in the Western world.  Tom’s vehicle for enlightening us includes Christine Anderson, an outspoken member of the European Union Parliament and Jack McManus, a former president of the John Burch Society.

Both Target and Anheuser Busch continue to reap the whirlwind.  Both are caught in a vortex of their own making.  In the future these two companies will be classic studies in advertising of what not to do if you wish to sell to the public.  Mainstream companies shouldn’t needlessly alienate their customer base or engage in controversies that have nothing to do with their core business.

More Democratic Insanity

One of the things that characterizes Democratic politicians is the resorting to “emergency powers” whenever possible to thwart legislation that they do not like or that organizations that send money to their campaigns don’t like.

One of the biggest supporters monetarily for Democrats are the teachers’ unions.  In North Carolina Senate Bill 406, also known as “Choose Your School, Choose Your Future,” is an initiative to make opportunity scholarships (also known as “vouchers”) available to families of all income levels. This would allow parents to use public school funds allocated for their children and use it to send them to a private school of their choosing.

Planned Parenthood (what a misnomer that is) wants to expand the Supreme Court in the wake of Roe vs Wade being overturned.  According to Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood, changes are needed because of the recent attacks “on our democratic rights and our democratic freedoms.”

I wonder what freedoms are being attacked?   It couldn’t be the “right” to murder an unborn child, could it?  Could it be the “right” to let a baby die that survives an abortion? ...
